Peter “Porno Pete” LaBarbera has picked up an old thread from the Sally Kern days and says that the so-called “homosexual agenda” (i.e. freedom, fairness, equality, dignity, etc.) is a greater threat to religious freedom than Sharia Law:
What is the bigger threat to freedom in America, presently? a) Sharia Law; or b) the anti-religious homosexualist agenda (including legalized “gay marriage”)? If you answered “b,” you are correct. Tell that to the conservative and ‘liberal-tarian’ pundits who are silent on the intolerant government-gay agenda and yet very vocal on the threat of Islamic radicalism.
He means that with love, of course.

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Using the same research methods employed by most anti-gay political pressure groups, we examine the statistics and the case studies that dispel many of the myths about heterosexuality. Download your copy today!

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.

Homosexualist?? Who even talks like that anymore? I haven’t heard it in over 15 years when Halifax MP Roseanne Skokes used it to denounce us in Parliament. It’s like he’s living two decades ago.

I think Peter LaBarbara would like sharia law, despite his protestations to the contrary. After all, the evil gays are stoned to death under Islamic law.

Under Saudi Sharia Law, Peter LaBarera would be stoned to death as a heretic for his Christianist views. Maybe he’d like to move to Saudia Arabia and try it out?

Peter LaBarbera needs to be evaluated by a mental health professional

The Porno Peeker may be correct about that, depending upon the definition of “religious freedom.” Clearly, the Super Duper Christian (SDC) definition refers to THEIR divinely sanctioned freedom to impose THEIR beliefs, rules, and punishments on everyone. In THEIR world, “freedom” rightly belongs exclusively to THEM because they are special. They really do believe they are entitled to special freedoms, and thus, any outsider who seeks their own freedom is a threat.
The SDCs don’t want to talk about the concept of Sharia Law being much of a threat because they are salivating with desire to impose their own SDC version of Sharia Law. It would be a very similar package, but with a different label.

I agree. He clearly suffers from the various permutations of GOD:
Gay Obsession Disorder,
Gender Obsession Disorder, and
Genitalia Obsession Disorder, which all fall under the umbrella of
God Obsession Disorder.

The greatest threat to American (and the rest of the world) is neither Sharia Law or the ‘homosexualist’ agenda. It’s religious fundamentalism.
It’s no wonder there’s an award named after him.

The greatest threat to religious freedom, or any freedom for that matter, is a non secular society.
Next time any religious person complains about secularism taking over government or other entities in your country, tell them to thank what ever god they choose to belive in, because secularism is the only concept that gives them the freedom to thank, whatever god they choose to belive in, in the first place.

“…what I’m calling the Big Government-Gay Agenda …”
Would that be “get Big Government out of my life?” As in stop Big Government mandated discrimination in military service, marriage, and immigration.

Close… Peter LaBarbera would like the Christian version of Sharia Law. Much the same except based on Levitical Law (with adjustment for Christian revisions).

The greatest threat to religious freedom, or any freedom for that matter, is an attitude of certainty, a presumption of superiority, a disrespect for differing opinions, and the inclination to see others as enemies.
Whether it is religious fundamentalism, secular intolerance, personal arrogance, racial compartmentalism, presumptions of heterosexual superiority, or any other segregationist and exclusionary attitudes, any time that you feel justified in forcing others to adhere to what you think is best with no consideration for differing opinions, you threaten freedom.

Pete HATES freedom in general and religious freedom in specific. In fact, virtually all conservative Christians despise religious freedom.
What they want, more than anything else, is hegemonic religion. They want their religious views codified into law, where there is a discrepancy between what they believe and the law, they want the discrepancy eliminated. Look at his examples and how they are incompatible with freedom, “Christians being fired or dropped from college programs for opposing homosexuality.” College programs can not give a degree to someone who willfully rejects the education of her own discipline. Giving her a degree, and in particular a counselor’s licence, would be an act of fraud. The entire point of a college degree or licence is to prove said person has a minimum standard of education and training, if the person fails to meet that standard, the college can not give them a degree. It is a GROTESQUE violation of academic freedom to attempt to force a university to commit fraud.
As far as Christians being fired, it is, again, a gross violation of the company’s freedom to force them to retain employees that are creating a hostile work environment or do not follow through with company policy. The difference between this situation and ENDA is that without ENDA an employee could be fired for simply being gay, while an employee couldn’t be fired for simply being Christian.
Clearly Pete hates freedom with a passion.

“What is the bigger threat to freedom in America, presently…”
Well, now, what with unemployment over 13% in Miami, close to that all over the country… millions of Americans losing their homes to foreclosure, families living in their cars, children going to school hungry… substance abuse, domestic violence, skyrocketing divorce rate, Veteran suicides at a record number, fighting 2 wars and a 3rd about to kick off any minute, bipartisan extremism in Congress and a Hope that fades more by the day, I just don’t rightly know what’s the bigger threat to America.
But I DO know what the bigger threat to Porno Pete would be– a Saudi leather daddy site “for research purposes only.” Of course.
If those little christian grandmas knew where their donations to Petey’s “ministry” were going, they’d cut off his internet service. Not to mention other things.
