AFA To Boycott McDonalds

Jim Burroway

Ronald McDonaldThe American Family Association is calling for another of their futile boycotts, this time of all McDonalds restaurants.

The AFA claims that McDonalds is giving “the full weight of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage.”

Are they serious? McDonalds is promoting the homosexual agenda? In those shoes?

They’ll still be ranting bigots, but perhaps now the AFA will be a little less fat. (sorry, couldn’t help it)

oh so the nutcranks over at afa are at it again..hmmm,i LIKE McDs, where i can always get coffee ,and a salad for under 6 bucks, and maine to fla, quality never varies…..and when you drive for a living, the same same thing is actually good (good quality, good price).A few months ago they were telling everyone ”gays will fry in hell’ AH, ,gee, Donald, will you be sure to fry me in olive oil? This move reeks of desperation. The Ford boycott was a failure; all US automakers are hurting bad right now, but Ford is actually doing the best of the big 3 with only an 11% drop.
Now they’ve targeted a company that won’t ever register a blip. With economic times getting tough, McD sales will probably even improve. (And of course if there is a decline in sales in line with the economy, they will be only too quick to take credit. How hard is it to claim a successful boycott in the middle of a recession?) I believe this will be a failure and a shining example of their increasing irrelevance.

They look like Big Bird’s shoes – and we all know about HIM – Phelps is picketing his funeral

There’s so many things I hate about McD’s, from their pushing farming into agribusiness to their mostly health-less food they serve up. But I DO enjoy their fries and occasionally a chicken sandwich (no mayo, no tomato) – so I guess the fact that they support “diversity” will soothe my other feelings when I decide to drop a couple bucks on some grub there.

I’m under the impression that McD’s owns Chipotle, one of my favorite fast-food mexican places. So this is good news.

They should have the Queer Guys give Ronald a much-needed makeover.

Innuendo and Hysteria over McDonald’s Joining the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce:

On March 12, The National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce announced that Richard Ellis, vice president of communications for McDonald’s USA, has been elected to its board of directors.

Jason: McDonald’s did have a majority stake in the restaurant at one time, but they since divested themselves of it back in 2006. So, they’re no longer connected to Chipotle.

(The sharp threads of Chipotle founder Steve Ells’ photo makes me wonder if he’s fabulously gay, but that’s just me. I like the glasses, though.)

But more to the point… yes, their burritos are yummy.

The American Family Association were behind the recent furor over the Heinz Deli-Mayo commercial which only aired in the UK. After 200 or so complaints, Heinz caved. The commercial was gay positive, showing us as a family. What got their panties in a bunch, was the sight of two men exchanging a split second quick peck on the lips.

They AFA ended a boycott of Disney and Ford after they failed to get them to comply with their homophobic agenda.

We must not let the powers that be at McDonald’s, or any company, to only hear the voices of the AFA. I’ve already contacted McDonalds to thank them for their continued support and sent an action alert to our members to do the same. McDonald’s is standing strong, however, we have seem many other companies cave to the pressure from the AFA. We can ill afford to allow the AFA to continue bullying gay-friendly companies without putting up a fight and having our voices heard as well. So, what are you wating for contact McDonald’s at: http://www.mcdonalds.com/contact/contact_us.html or call them at 1-800-244-6227, do it now!

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.
