Schadenfreude Watch

This is getting to be a weekly occurrence. Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN), who is resigning for having sex with a woman who is not his wife, posted this about the vital importance of marriage to his web site:

I believe that Congress must fight to uphold the traditional values that undergird the strength of our nation. The family plays a fundamental role in our society. Studies consistently demonstrate that it is best for a child to have a mother and father, and I am committed to preserving traditional marriage, the union of one man and one woman.

…In October 2006, my subcommittee staff authored an important report called “Abstinence and Its Critics” that, among other things, countered the Waxman Report touted by liberals. You can download an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) copy of my report here.

TPM reports that Souder believed in abstinence so much that he appeared in a video along with his mistress, Tracy Jackson, who acted as his interviewer:

In the November 2009 abstinence video, Jackson introduces Souder this way: “You’ve been a longtime advocate for abstinence education and in 2006 you had your staff conduct a report entitled ‘Abstinence and its Critics’ which discredits many claims purveyed by those who oppose abstinence education.”

Here’s the video:

Update: Souder or his people removed the original video from their YouTube account. Fortunately, the Internet age means that nothing ever really goes away. We’ve linked to an alternative copy of the video.

I admit it. My 16+ year gay relationship lead to the downfall of Rep. Souder’s marriage. It’s true. My long term relationship with someone of the same gender sent out the waves in the atmospheric continuum and caused the righteous congressman to stray from his vows and play hide the wienie with a woman other than his wife. Because were it not for my selfish and sin act of staying in a committed relationship with a man, I’m sure the gentleman from Indiana would have stayed on the straight and narrow.

Well, I guess it could have been worse. He could have gone to rentboy.com.

ps: Schadenfreude is missing a “c.”

Spellcheck, unfortunately, doesn’t work for titles. As for the spelling errors in the rest of the blog, I have no excuse.

Now that is BALLS.

The whole reason why this sort of thing happens among politicians is because guys like Souder typically aren’t as strongly opposed to same-sex marriage as they present themselves to be. They mostly feign conviction so that the idiot rednecks will afford them the prestige and privilege that comes with being a politician. I’m not saying Souder isn’t an anti-gay busybody, but his outspokenness on the crucial matter of other people’s sex lives is clearly borne more out of a desire for votes than the genuine overabundance of free time and sexual frustration that usually leads people to worry about who is screwing whom.

Just another hypocrite to fall from grace. They warned that this would happen if we allowed gay marriage. We should of listened to them.

Why has there not been a study showing the link between those of our country’s leader’s who have fought marriage equality and promote abstenance only-like programs with the number of polititians who have been caught with their pants down? Clearly there seems to be an obvious link besides correlation.

As was the rhetoric here in Canada preceding the 2004 legislation providing for same-sex marriage, so many cried “the sky will fall”. In the US, the cries from the religious and conservative right have been declaring that equality, whether civil marriage or the repeal of DADT will spell the beginning of the end for the US.

If not so sad, it would be laughable.

But I can’t understand how these hypocrites can actually look themselves in the mirror?

Exactly what are the ‘traditional values’ they so desperately want to exclusively uphold? The right to commit adultery and claim the highest rate of failed marriages in US history?

Argh!!!!!!!!!!

Another one bites the dust?
A strict believer in the inerrant Word of God, an opponent of same-sex marriage disobeys a commandment or two & Jesus’ preaching on adultery? So gosh darn shocking.
May I suggest sex rehab for him? The treatment centres for sexual addiction have open spaces since Tiger Woods & Jesse James have been “cured”!

Go Abstinence!!!

Oh, wait….

Clearly his aid used the word “c*****m” 8 times more often than the word “abstain.” Everyone knows that one gains the unstoppable desire to do it if one hears or reads that word.

Studies consistently demonstrate that it is best for a child to have a mother and a mother or a father and a father. Period.
There.
I can say it too. And just because I can say it and post it somewhere that can be read by others doesn’t make it absolute truth. So go f**k yourself senator.

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Daniel FettyThe FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.
