Annapolis gets smallest NOM rally of all

Timothy Kincaid

What does Annapolis, Maryland, think about the National Organization for Marriage’s big multi-state tour? Well, according to this picture of the rally in progress, not much.

Nineteen.

That’s how many people I counted in this picture standing and listening to Brian Brown speak. Nineteen.

If this keeps up, I predict a family emergency or bus trouble or something may cause this fiasco to come to an early demise.

I’d like to see a wider shot of the venue, but from the looks of that photo, NOM wasn’t expecting that much of a turnout. Definitely would need to see a wider angle…

More like 9 people if you don’t count the NOM staff, reporters and crew

Well, if those 17 people are millionaires and they all write big, fat checks to NOM, that will cover their loses for the whole tour. Maybe they ought to had the rallies in front of a bank so Brian can go apply for a loan while Louis leads the group in a nice long prayer, just to keep them entertained.

Can you imagine how depressing it must be to only have a dozen or so people come out to hear you speak.

well, if anyone of those women were pregnant they count for 2, and if any one of those men are of procreation age, they might count as more than one.

How else do you think they will get to the 100 that they will likely claim to have by the time their blog post comes in?

Any word of a counter rally?

It’s Wednesday. NOM’s latest blog post was about Sunday in Rhode Island.

Sad. Just sad.

How do we know that all of the people in all of these pictures are actually supporters?

I happen to know for a fact that at least three of the people at the Albany “rally” were not supporters but rather gay marriage supporting observers. I know because they are personal friends of mine. They told me that there were a number of other people in the “crowd” that weren’t supporters.

I think we should be careful assuming that their “crowds” of supporters are even as big as has been reported.

The protestors should probably stay away. It only seems an opportunity for NOM to misrepresent the intentions of the counter-protests.

In New Jersey the Equality Group holding the alternate press conference was a much better approach and showed us as for something instead of against NOM.

The first lesson in political strategy, according to Art Agnos lecturing Harvey Milk in the beginning of his political career in “MILK”.

I’m not so sure if that is always the best political strategy. Since Obama and the Democrats were swept into office the Republican strategy has been to be against everything and for virtually nothing. And yet, by all accounts, the Republicans are poised to regain many seats in the upcoming congressional elections.

But I do think that the NJ Equality Group’s holding a press conference inside the State House was clever. It created the image of NOM as being the actual protesters relegated to the plaza in front of the State House. Of course NOM is, at its core, a protest movement, so that was appropriate.

It’s ironic that the NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MARRIAGE omits the F from its acronym. NOM isn’t for anything, including marriage. They are only against marriage among people they view as uppity inferiors who are challenging their divine entitlement to dominion.

May NOM die the ignoble death it has earned itself.

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
