Justice Has Been Done

With those words, President Barack Obama confirmed that Osama Bin Ladin has been killed by U.S. special forces in Pakistan. That this mass murder has been killed by U.S. forces while hiding out deep in Pakistan, in a mansion in Abbottabad, 50km northeast of Islamabad, and that the U.S. now has possession of his corrupt body — all of this is justice beyond measure and a moment beyond words.

Don’t get cocky kids, we aren’t out of this yet. In fact, this is far from over. Remain vigilant.

A great day for all Americans; red, blue, and otherwise.

A great day for all of us who love freedom.

Maybe this will bring a sense of justice to the victims of his horrific attacks.

Two things worry me, though.

First – the Americans gave up an awful lot of civil rights because of 9/11. Will they now be restored?

Second – as mentioned above, vigilance is mandated. I expect major reprisal from the Islamic world.

But, just for now – speaking as a man who loved the towers:

Good. Glad Obama got the batsard.

A great day – but it’s high time we stopped Wahabbi extremist influence of mosques and schools across the West. That in turn is being funded by Saudi petro-dollars.

Osama bin Laden got more out of 9/11 than he could have ever dreamed possible. He got America to trade liberty for security and as Benjamin Franklin so eloquently stated, a man or country that will trade liberty for security deserves NEITHER. Osama may be gone, and thankfully so, but as long as we are still living in fear and sacrificing our liberties for a false sense of security, HE WON and he’ll remain a hero, a martyr and an inspiration to terrorists everywhere, forever!

That may not be what people want to hear right now, but it’s true none the less.

Now they should go after the oil companies or who ever is destroying everything with the high fuel prices. Only the rich have freedom now. Yea, I’m free, free to do NOTHING because there’s no money left. It all goes to gas to get to work and heating oil.

So the vengeance for the death of 3,000 civilians was worth the killing of over 7,000 civilians (and god knows how many wounded) in order to get to ONE man?

This is justice being served?

Unfortunately, innocents die during wartime. This is of course not about getting “one man”, but about bringing down a terrorist organization bent on killing us. Killing Osama won’t end the war, but it’s an important victory nonetheless.

Um, I think – at least outside the US – it’s pretty well established that Bush#43 intentionally left off the useful, productive and necessary attacks on Bin Laden & Co. to undertake a pointless war in Iraq.

Frankly, as much as I rejoice over the death of Bin Laden, I don’t think all the hundreds of thousands of deaths which the last decade have brought as a direct and indirect consequence of 9/11 were in any way justifiable.

If those trillions of US Dollars had been spend on infrastructure and education in the US, oil would no longer even be relevant.

No, G.I., this is not justice, by any stretch of the imagination.

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.
