Linda Harvey gets ABC coverage

ABC News has dedicated an entire story to Linda Harvey and her “group” Mission:America. She’s made the big time. She may wish she hadn’t.

About the only thing that the crazies have going for them is that their audience is limited to those who agree with them anyway (and those of us who mock them). But when presented by a reporter who is neither an extremist nor a gay activist, their crazy rantings seem, well, crazy.

In her new guide on how to talk to kids about homosexuality, Harvey writes, “It’s not right to tell someone that being homosexual is okay. The person may be feeling sad because of being bullied, but never try to make him or [sic] feel better by saying “gay” is okay.”

Well who would do that anyway. They proper response to someone “feeling sad” because of being bullied is to scream, “You’re going to burn in hell, you filthy sinner!” Right?

And besides everyone knows, “from Asia to India”, that “being gay is wrong”.

Oh, Linda. Lovely, lovely Linda. You really have no idea just how hateful (and stupid) you come across to anyone who doesn’t live in your bubble, do you?

“[F]rom Asia to India”? Ok, it’s been a… few years since I was in school but I seem to recall that India IS in Asia. Or has this changed since then? Hmm…

LOL! Linda Harvey IS stupid if she doesn’t know THAT very simple geography lesson!

It cannot be emphasized enough people, and Ms. Harvey hated me for saying this on her Ruth blog and banned it: who has more credibility about Jews? A Jewish person, who has lived their lives as Jewish, knows the history or a non Jewish anti Semite?

Giving credence or an audience to the equivalent when discussing gay lives won’t inform anyone of the truth or what’s necessary.
Why consult George Wallace on the merits of blacks when discussing integration, but never give Dr. MLK or his advocates the credibility to speak on life UNDER discrimination?

I don’t see how giving the floor to the people who advocate discrimination and benefit from it, is as valid as those who have to live with it, who are damaged by it, and who fight it.

I just read the ABC article. Some of Linda’s comments are even worse than what was quoted above.

Did she actually suggest that if a child is bullied about being overweight, the loving response would be to tell the child to eat less?!

Seems to me that telling another kid that being gay is not okay is simply another form of bullying.

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
