Bradlee Dean, who spoke of his admiration for Muslims because of what he described as their commitment to uphold their religious laws calling for death to homosexuals, is now suing Rachel Maddow and the Minnesota Independent for, as far as I can tell, repeating verbatim what he said. Ordinarily, when someone files a lawsuit like this, one would generally want to correct the injustice one believes was done to him and make his views known, but so Dean has ditched interviews with Michelangelo Signorile, Newsweek, The Shannon Files, and even his own press conference. Dean calls his ministry You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, but it turns out that’s wrong. You really can do both.
Update: It turns out that when he does run, he runs to sympathetic extremist talk show hosts who will reliable throw softball questions and allow him to claim that all he’s doing is protectiong the children:

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.

This guy is a bitch, pure and simple.
He seems a bit um…pretty, too. I was expecting someone a bit more…masculine? I guess. Not only that, but the first time I ever saw his name, I thought “Bradlee Dean” must be a girl. Every other GUY I’ve ever known or even heard of with that name spells it “Bradley” and I knew a girl named “Bradlee” in Catholic school in California. I only remember her because of the unique name.
Why do all the really, really anti-gay ones end up making you wonder if they’re really secretly gay? They can’t ALL be like that, can they?

He’s already making himself look like an ass by filing what’s obviously a frivolous lawsuit. With any luck he may get fined for wasting the court’s time…all she did was show HIM saying exactly what he said. How exactly is that actionable? If YOU said it, and you are known to have said it, and someone quotes you or shows a video of you or both…YOU still are responsible for having shot your mouth off and said dumb shit.

That voice was enough to make me stop the clip about ten seconds in. That and I didn’t want to hear Ms. Dean whine about those damn liberals and their human rights and how they are so mean to bigots.

@ Tim: How do statements like that make any sense, even to them? In this day and age you’d think parents would complain…
And in this litigious and politically correct day and age, I’ve heard of and seen schools (especially ELEMENTARY schools) go out of their way to be so inoffensive I’m surprised anything gets taught…oh wait a minute…often much of substance doesn’t…for just that reason.
So how does that work exactly, since notes and permission slips get sent home for much more innocuous things than that and there’s an opt-out for almost everything?
Oh wait, these assholes won’t be satisfied until schools teach kids about religion…theirs only…and there IS no opt-out for that. Oh…wait…that would be illegal.
That’s probably their real problem.

BlackDog,
In May 2000, there was a conference in Massachusetts for sexual minority high schoolers. During a question session, one student asked “what’s fisting” and another student answered. The presenters clarified and corrected that student’s answer.
Ergo, it is a fact that children are being taught fisting in elementary school. Within a few more years it will probably be a “fact” that homosexual activists are teaching fisting and using child volunteers for illustration.
As long as they can squeeze some tiny crumb of basis for their bizarre accusations, then it really isn’t lying, you see.

I think every gay man in American should be able to sue this tool for saying that we “on average” molest 117 children each before we’re caught.

Assuming that gay men make up, at a conservative estimate, 1% of the US population, then Mr Dean is implying that 351 million children are molested before their abusers are caught. The population of of the USA is some 300 million. The conclusion? Simple arithmetic is beyond Mr Dean’s intellectual capacity. He is stupid as well as bigoted. Extremely stupid.

@ Tim K.
Well then, as a kid who spent a couple years in Catholic school, I’m quite sure I was “taught” a lot of things by my fellow students that we’d of gotten in hella big trouble for if any of the nuns or teachers would of found out.
By the standard of “fact” that they’re using, I was “taught” that sometimes girls like girls, I was “taught” how to properly smoke a cigarette, and I was “taught” a lot of street smarts and stuff like that. I had my first little girlfriend, got into (and won) my first fight, and a lot of other stuff like that.
All of this “teaching” came from other students, the actual teachers taught the things they were supposed to, like facts about history and math and science.
All of this in a school that required specifically sectarian prayers to God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit and that was just how you started off the day.
Christian schools…and in my opinion Christianity…have fallen kinda far since.

That would assume each child is only abused by a single gay predator. You’re not allowing for overlap. Or slave camps. Or something.

Wow, this Bradlee Dean creep says some really hateful, ugly, irrational stuff.
If the suit isn’t tossed out of the system quickly, I hope Rachel Maddow countersues and wins big bucks from him, or otherwise wins brutally punitive damages.

Ummm… this radio/tv host – what part of stupid is he? He makes repeated remarks about people just can’t say what they like yet he dropped that totally ridiculous and unsubstantiated claim about 7 year olds and fisting? As for Bradlee Dean and his *cough* “buddy” (oh there is a lot of denial in those two…) what a load of pathetic nonsense, especially demanding that should they win this case that they get to tell the court HOW that money is to be paid and then along with the ex drug experimenter jock (*thinks* was Jabba the Hutt a jock in his younger days?) denounce Maddow and MSNBC as “arrogant”! Please…. oh, and tell a mere foreigner, how much reach does someone like this Alex Jones have? In our country if anyone made that sort of claim (the fisting one) on air, they’d be off air before they’d finished their shift. (I gotta read this “First Amendment” of yours…)
