“Wow. BTB just got Phelpsed”

Jim Burroway

November 26th, 2008

That was one commenter’s reaction to another comment left by Margie Phelps. She, of the Westboro Baptist clan, had a few words to say about a protest in Omaha which didn’t turn out so well for her compatriots:

It is so beautiful watching this nation raise an entire generation of mindless illiterate raging brats. It is the perfect picture of the curse of God on this nation.

When they get all riled up and try to attack the peaceful kind-hearted prophets of God, you cheer like a bunch of stupid trained seals. But when they turn their filthy vulgar violence on society-at-large — you cry like a bunch of little girls. The very same day the brutish brats at the Omaha high school were raging — trying to change the standard of God — furious-at-heart because every adult they’ve ever met before meeting the Westboro Baptist Church good souls have lied to them about any and all things important — the Omaha media reported a hysterical conference by the “leaders” of the community about the out-of-control gang problem.

Meanwhile as you show your backsides in your comments — encouraging violence for one reason, to wit, to try to shake off the bands our words put on your evil dark consciences — your duty stays the same forever: Get a Bible; read it; urge your fellow man to read it; obey it; urge your fellow man to obey it; otherwise shut up!

You are an altogether worthless people. You have no character, substance or righteousness. You glorify yourselves and spend out your days in vain pursuit of lust and greed. You hate each other; you hate yourselves; you have a society that is rotting from the inside out; God is cursing you in every way, every day. And you’re just too plain blind and dumb to see it. God did that to you by one awesome judicial stroke: Made you blind, stupid and drunk-acting — so you are incapable of any right thinking. Lord help those pitiful kids raised by the parents of today! They have no hope! That’s why they are reduced to throwing food and drink at people who care for their souls. You taught them that vile parents, teachers, preachers and “leaders.”

God has raised up a perfect arrogant ass to be the president of this generation of spoiled no-impulse-control brats, named Obama. He will lead these bombastic big mouths to their final destruction. God put him in this position of power so he could use him as his servant for his glory to destroy doomed america.

Your only hope is this: Shut your big blasphemous mouth; get a Bible; read it; and OBEY! Fear God! Keep his commandments! He is the Creator of all things. Those animal-acting slobbish children can’t change that fact! The hour of his coming draws nigh. The Judgment Day she cometh.

God hates you doomed america. He sent you sissies and toddlers to rule over you; and they have you in a grip you can’t get out of. God hates you nasty Nebraska. God hates you Oafish Omaha. He hates the lying whore false prophets of your land; he hates the parents of your land; and he hates those rutting retards you call children! God hates you!

Magormissabib.

One of your only true BFFs in the whole world, at Westboro Baptist Church, the last spot on this earth where you will hear the truth

PS We’ll be back to that high school early and often — stay tuned — because those little brutes WILL drink the cup of his wrath — and since you parents, teachers, preachers and “leaders” won’t tell them the truth — we’ll do the job for you

My favorite line is “The Judgment Day she cometh”. It just has a certain style to it. I don’t know when this will be, but I do know the Turkey Day she cometh tomorrow and I shall eateth of the festive bird at that time – unless the judgment day she cometh before the turkey day of course.

They’re a positive, life-loving crowd, those Phelpses…

Cheers to the crowd that showed up against them. The best way to fight their horrible strain of hatred is through counter-protests just like the one in Oregon.

I have more respect for these people (the respect afforded is still minimal) than for the leaders of the religious right. At least these are honest.

You think that’s bad? Read this:

http://thetyee.ca/Video/2008/11/11/GodHates/

Click on “All comments.” Margie’s comment is the eighth one down, headed “You freaks think you can change God!”

I especially like this part:

“Now doomed north america, including you cursed creepy canadians, think you have something new to offer? Are you kidding me? You eat each other’s feces! You hate each other! You’re disease-ridden, lazy, violent, and full of hate for each other.”

I live in Vancouver. We don’t want them here. Period.

I have to wonder: where do they get the money to racket around North America spreading their bile? My guess is that they must have some “private donors” who like to see them do their dirty work for them. As bonkers as a hyena on acid.

AJC,
Most of the family “Fortune” was brought about through nuisance lawsuits filed by Father Phelps. Google “Addicted to Hate” for the disturbing biography of this clan.

After reading Marjorie’s foaming rant – one thing comes to mind:

“Kids, can you say “projection?”

“I thought you could.”

Perhaps Marjorie is a victim of “mirror by the monitor” syndrome.

Thanks for sharing Margie!

Hope you’re giving thanks that you live in a country that so far, in spite of yourself, has so much respect for women that you’re not tied to a stake yourself.

You benefit from the Constitution and you know it. Otherwise you wouldn’t hide behind the First Amendment so conveniently.

You give thanks for that Constitution and Bill of Rights, because the Bible wouldn’t give you the freedoms THEY do.

Ya gotta love the Phelpses, seriously — as poster children for the religiously insane, they’ve done more good for LGBTs than any number of touchy-feely “community outreach” programs ever could.

I love getting Phelpsed myself — not that we’ve ever been honored with an actual comment from a Phelps at our blog, but we do get the occasional mention on the WBC Web site’s hours-o’-fun news page, and I can’t help but smile every time I see a hit in our server logs coming in from godhatesfags.com.

May the Phelps clan live forever! They do more inadvertent good work for the LGBT community than we could ever do ourselves.

P.S. As much of an honor as it would be to get Phelpsed by Margie, I must admit my favorite Phelps is Shirley. She’s a pistol, that gal.

Yes, the Phelps family is pro-gay rights, whether they want to be or not! I wish they would protest more and more and someday they will be able to protest gay marriage in all 50 states!

“you show your backsides in your comments”

The commenters here at BTB should pay close attention to Marge’s advice as there are none so good at showing their backsides to the public as the folks from Westboro Baptist.

Indeed Marge did a good job of showing her ass right here:

Marge considers her family “the peaceful kind-hearted prophets of God.” Really, Marge. Do kind-hearted types try to rub salt into the wounds of those trying to bury their loved ones? I think not.

Her own comment included this:

God hates you doomed america. … God hates you nasty Nebraska. … He hates the lying whore false prophets of your land; he hates the parents of your land; and he hates those rutting retards you call children! God hates you!

Ah. Feel the loving kindness in Marge’s words.

Now how else did Madame Phelps show her backside here? Let’s see…

Marge labels being pelted with food as violence, but thinks nothing of the violence her church’s words might encourage. (“God hates fags” is sure to provoke peaceful reactions from would-be gay-bashers.)

She compares the reaction of the students her group provoked to the criminal activities of gangs. (That’s like comparing apples to pine cones.)

She writes, “You hate each other; you hate yourselves.” Talk about psychological projection!

Here is my advice to Marge: Physician, heal thyself.

I’ve noticed that she has quit “debating” anyone when she makes a post such as this. Pender I liked her:

Westboro Baptist Church, the last spot on this earth where you will hear the truth

Line also. Might be the only true thing she said. Somehow I think Magormissabib applies to the Phelps cult and not those she would put it upon.

Regan DuCasse, Very good point. The Phelps Klan made their money using American Law, not biblical law.

The monet they have is from greed of BS lawsuits. They would be stoned to death by now.

I have to say I’m a bit disappointed…I got Margie mixed up with Shirley, whose last contribution here was such a delightful combination of hate and cheerfulness, so I was expecting another very entertaining read. Alas. Any chance of her coming back? I think I’d rather like it if she popped in here every once in a while.

Margie showed up at BDBO one day and left a cut and paste about the US that had nothing to do with the topic.

I reported it since the Phelps aren’t welcome in Canada and left it up, no one bothered to engage her.

I hate to admit it, but she was so far off topic I burst out laughing.

I know the hate and the harm is real, and I find nothing funny about that. Nor do I find the damage done in this family funny.

Then I wondered how many hours the Phelp clan spent googling themselves and cutting and pasting round the world.

How long before they have to pay (or even better, give up all their resources) to make a partial payment of the millions they were ordered to pay in the lawsuit they lost recently? (I assume they have not succeded in overturning it?)

Is not their “work” now an example of using ca$h they dont have anymore, that should be used to pay their opponents in the lawsuit they lost first?

(I realy want to see these nice hatemonglers begging for food or someplace to sleep in a street corner
:-)

I think I can spare a rotten egg, or a tomato or two (or maybe even a smelly cardboard box…))

Confirmation has just been received by the local Vancouver media that the Phelps Klan was stopped at the border by our Canadian border guards. Thank you, Border Services!

My condolences to American GLBTs: it seems you’re stuck with these pseudo-Christian Satano-fascists. For now. Good luck!

Rob

November 29th, 2008

AJC, the Lunatic Phamily is considered a hate group in Canada, and Stockwell Day (himself an evangelical) had given explicit direction to Customs Canada that they are to be refused at the border. As well, Canadian Police forces have told them that they will not supply additional officers to protect them.

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
