I rarely read WorldNetDaily, an omission I intend to correct immediately. I almost missed this interesting nugget, “Will ex-gays bring down ‘Big Sodomy’?” The title alone is worth the price of admission, which, of course, is free. Donald Hank (who I’ve never heard of before, but there’s his picture in case you’re curious) is all […]

Michael Glatze was quite young when he became involved in gay activism and the gay community. And the gay world applauded him. He wrote for XY and then became the executive editor for GYA. He spoke on panels and received awards. He was a roll model and a young hero. But time went on and […]

This morning Soulforce kicked off the Survivor Initiative with an action and press conference outside NARTH’s headquarters in Encino, CA (aka “The Valley”). Present were Paige Schilt, Shawn O’Donnell, Darlene Bogle, and myself. NARTH is officially headquartered at Dr. Nicolosi’s clinic in an office tower on Ventura Boulevard. We assembled on the sidewalk in front […]

The Arizona Daily Star, my adopted hometown newspaper, has a front-page article this morning on Tucson’s “Cool Church,” a franchise of four churches spread around the city which tries to be hip and relevant to young people. But pastor David McAllister seems to think that aligning himself with a holocaust revisionist is part of what […]

Peterson Toscano and Christine Bakke, two of the organizers of the Ex-Gay Survivors Conference repeatedly invited several Exodus leaders to use the opportunity for their all being in town at the same time to begin a dialogue between ex-gay ministries and the survivors of those ministries. Despite tremendous pressure, a very few Exodus-affiliated ministry leaders […]

CitizenLink is just making things up. It’s like they’re not even trying to be credible anymore. I got a laugh out of this one, about the two competing ex-gay and ex-ex-gay conferences: The [Exodus Freedom Conference], which began Tuesday and wraps up Sunday, has drawn close to 1,000 people — and no protesters so far. […]

Jeremy Marks had been active in Exodus between 1988 and 2000, founding Courage UK along the way. Courage UK started as a classic ex-gay ministry before breaking with Exodus become a gay-affirming evangelical ministry. Jeremy was one of three former Exodus and Exodus-affiliated leaders who apologized for “the message of broken truth we spoke on […]

This weekend in Irvine, CA there will be two seminars which address ex-gay ministries. One, Exodus International’s Freedom Conference which started today, will be those who struggle with same-sex attractions but have “walked away from the homosexual lifesyle”. The other will be the Ex-Gay Survivor’s Conference where our own Jim Burroway will be a presenter. The Christian […]

Exodus vice-president Randy Thomas responded to the Ex-Gay Survivor’s conference by claiming that the conference will “try to project their experience onto all of us” and, as reported by CitizenLink, “deny people hope.” The Ex-Gay Survivor’s conference, taking place on the same weekend as the final days of the Exodus Freedom Conference in Irvine, will […]

Anti-gay extremists love to scare people with carefully selected images from Pride celebrations. But can you tell the difference between Pride and Mardi Gras? Kevin throws down the challenge.

We reported earlier that Peterson Toscano and Christine Bakke, cofounders of Beyond Ex-Gay, invited Exodus leaders to a small private dinner to talk about some of the experiences of those who are no longer ex-gay. Since it’s a private dinner, Exodus officials may respond privately — I don’t know — but their public stance doesn’t […]

Alan Chambers spoke to AFA’s OneNewsNow to clarify comments he made to the Los Angeles Times, in which he was described as “resenting” the term “ex-gay”. The LA Times reported: [“Ex-gay” is] too neat, implying a clean break with the past, when he still struggles at times with homosexual temptation. “By no means would we […]

Celebrations continue over last week’s defeat of the anti-marriage amendment in Massachusetts. Meanwhile, MassResistance, the group supporting repeal of gay marriage, is nursing its wounds. And it looks like they’re not going away quietly. They’ve sent out a fundraising letter bemoaning that seven Republicans and five Democrats switched their votes to defeat the proposed amendment. […]

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.
