Damaged “Yes on 102” Signs in Phoenix Area

I got a phone call last night from a reporter from Phoenix’s ABC15, telling me that a spokesperson for the ‘Yes” side for Prop 102 says that more than a hundred of their campaign signs were vandalized. Obviously, everyone here at No on Prop 102 condemns such vandalism. While we are happy to engage in a vigorous debate on the issues, vandalism has no place in rational debate.

And of course, no one knows who vandalized the signs. could have been the yes people, hoping to generate a little sympathy.

Hi, Jim:

I had read early this morning in the Daily Star about the vandalism. The article I read quoted the Yes on 8 spokesperson but I don’t recall any mention of the No on 8 folks giving a statement in the article I read. So, I’m glad to learn that you were contacted, were able to make a statement condemning such vandalism, and that ABC15 included your statement in their reporting.

And of course, no one knows who vandalized the signs.

Indeed. Unfortunately, this provides the Yes on 102 crowd an opportunity to play their victimization card again and proclaim how they are “tormented” and threatened by the “radical homosexualists”.

I was just in Phoenix and I really wanted to steal the signs. They’re everywhere. I didn’t see a single No sign. So depressing.

I’ve often thought of doing something to the yes on 102 signs, but then think of what it would be like if they did something to one of my signs.

As much as I dislike their proposition and what it stands for, I believe they have a right to express their views. They’re using their own money, after all.

Even if I find their views bigoted and discriminatory. I have hope that the people will see their ugliness for what it is and vote against prop. 102.

I must admit though, when I do see one of their signs gone or “clarified”, it makes me smile for the rest of the day! :-)

You know, the Yes on 102 folks had the gall to clutter up my mailbox with their trash and there was no way to contact them. They are a nasty bunch of bigots. Personally, I’m glad someone had the nerve to point out the truth about 102. Sometimes playing by the rules doesn’t work.

Yes, my husband and I BOTH received the yes on 102 flyers in our mailbox. Obviously, they aren’t targeting the proper audience and are just wasting their money, which is fine by me!

Better yet, they also included one of those “vote by mail” postcard and they would pay for the postage. Well, I just left it blank and dropped it in the post office box. Again, it’s their money and I’m more than happy to help them waste it!!! LOL!!!

Same thing with McCain/Painlin, they hit us up for money, so we just sent back their empty envelopes on their dime!

Eddie: what you should have done was take that pre-paid post card, tape it to a box of rocks, and mail that to them. we did that to fallwell back in the ’80’s. cost him a big old bundle.

Exactly how many of those signs are STILL up in Phoenix? How much longer will non-haters have to endure the ugliness? As I drive through the county, it’s impossible to count all those signs.

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
