My Question For The NBC Democratic Debate

Daniel Gonzales

January 10th, 2008

This question is for candidates who support civil unions for gay couples but not full marriage:

Given the landmark Supreme Court case Brown v Board Of Education which declared that separate is inherently unequal, how do you justify your position of giving gay Americans something less than full marriage?

Politics is often described as “the art of the possible.”

First get on the bus (civil unions.) Then demand that you not be required to sit in the back.

Asking politicians to support gay marriage now is asking too much. After all, we do need to get them elected. Only then could they do either one.
