Chile may be Considering Marriage Equality

Timothy Kincaid

April 3rd, 2008

chile.jpg I’ve only found one source for this story, the Catholic News Agency.

According to a report on Lifesitenews.com, a bill has been introduced into the Chilean National Congress to allow homosexuals to “marry” and adopt children.

Officially named the “Bill that Modifies the Civil Code in relation to the Concept of Marriage”, it is being promoted by the Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation (MOVILH) and other homosexual groups, and is similar to one that failed in 2003.

I was unable to locate or identify the story they are referencing on Lifesitenews.

GO CHILE?! I was impressed with teh CNA article, they actually made an almost completely unbiased news report. But then they said blasting… OMG.
Unless Chile is a somewhat theocratic state, i dont see how ‘from a christian point of view’ should be any obstacle. Or that the slippery slope that was expressed had any backing other than homophobic, homoignorant or simply just paranoid basis.

i think we will see many changes around the world within the next 5 years, it appears many states, countries are considering marriage and civil unions.

I think the rate is something like a country every 2 years.

Unfortunately, I fear Lifesite (or whomever) is mostly making this to use as a fear tactic to say, “see! they’re everywhere!”

Well, the list of acceptable emigration states is at least growing; in case the RR ever succeeds in getting their theocracy here.
