Bahrain’s Anti-Gay Witch Hunt

We’ve reported on the anti-gay witch hunt that’s been taking place in Egypt under the cover of an anti-HIV witch hunt. Now we learn that there’s an anti-gay witch hunt going on in Bahrian, one of the U.S. administration’s allies in the “war on terror.” This witch hunt extends to school children:

School students could soon be spied on under a campaign to stamp out homosexuality, under demands made by MPs yesterday. Parliament also demanded that the Interior Ministry stop granting any residence permits to foreign homosexuals. Any already here should be deported as soon as they are detected, MPs said at parliament’s weekly session.

MPs also called for regular inspections to root out homosexuals at massage parlours, health clubs and hair salons. It also called for monitoring in schools and for pupils who veer towards homosexuality to be punished.

The part in the article that really gets me:

Committee secretary and Al Menbar MP Shaikh Mohammed Khalid Mohammed said that people were complaining about homosexuals entering the country to work in massage or hair salons.

It’s all about the foreign gays, since we all know that nobody from there will want to become gay. (end sarcasm)

I just completed some googling on the problem, and just stumbled onto a blogster by the name of Elder of Zion. Still clicking through and learning about him, but he’s evidently quite up on what’s happening in that part of the world. From the points he’s making, I’d say he’s somebody the editors here would do well to keep an eye on what he writes! Just a thought.

“Parliament also demanded that the Interior Ministry stop granting any residence permits to foreign homosexuals. Any already here should be deported as soon as they are detected, MPs said at parliament’s weekly session.”

OHHHHH… ‘since gays are the most who practice sodomy, and sodomy has the highest risk, protected or not, to spread AIDS then, it is only reasonable to erradicate them”. I get it, and ill agree with their ‘anti-HIV’ slogan if its congruent, like Barbara’s stance, those heterosexuals found to be practicing sodomy will suffer the same ‘gay fate’. I wonder though… werent blacks along the same ‘AIDS spreading’ percentage statistic as gays? If this is true, they should also punish them.

This would be even more distrubing… if they found the gay gene before finding the cure. You know what that means?… Punished in the fetus maybe? Or since one is already set around 12yrs then i guess this wouldbe the ideal age to ‘get the message accross’.

Too bad AIDS=death. SO i dont think i can actually argue with them trying to prevent it. I do however find it concerning that it doenst matter if you have had or are planning to do sodomy. What really matters is the POSSIBLITY of you sodomizing(is that a correct term?) like “It also called for monitoring in schools and for pupils who veer towards homosexuality to be punished.” pretty much implies? Not to mention im sure there going to punish -non-gays- due to stereotyping, no? Or what are their standards to determine if someones gay?

I wonder, once they end with gays(since their the highest possiblity of spreading aids) then they will continue to the straight or [insert highest probability group here]? no? If they dont… why the double standard? or do they have a probability limit that bounds on hterosexuality or [insert group of people here] i guess, otherwise EVERYONE would have to be punished.

Since the premise(seems to me) is ‘dieing before their natural time'(consentual or not) thats wrong, then they would also have to place limits and punishments on smoking, eating cooked red meat, eating greasy foods, all xtreme sports(hiking, mountainclimbing… etc)…etc, etc…

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
