CA Supremes: No Stay, No Reconsideration – Marriages Start June 17

Timothy Kincaid

June 4th, 2008

The San Jose Mercury News is reporting

Moving swiftly to remove legal uncertainty, the court turned a way a request from gay marriage foes to stay the ruling until after the November election, when voters will consider a ballot measure that would change the state Constitution to again outlaw same-sex weddings.

The court also rejected a request to reconsider their decision by the same margin as the original decision.

Wow, bless my cynical heart. Seems like the California Court is not as tolerant of unmitigated nonsense as I thought. Pam posts a copy of the actual Court document. I had to see it to believe it. And I’m not even from Missouri.

This is sweet news but it will be even sweeter when the voters in California defeat the anti-gay resolution on their ballots in November.

I’m doing the happy dance right now!!!

My future husband cannot get the 17th off from work, so we will have to wait till later this month to legally tie the knot in California!

Finally! After twelve years!!!

Sucks that as soon as we cross the State line into Arizona that our CA marriage will not be recognized in AZ. Stupid DOMA!

Oh well, one step at a time!

We’re waiting for august when the soon-to-be combo Husband and Destroyer-of-all-Holy-Heterosexuality has a few days off from school. Unfortunately, it will be a small private affair.

I’ve already planned the big to-do, but it will have to wait until he graduates next year. We’ll have another small affair this winter with his family in Germany, and get partnershipped there.
