Can someone in or from Arizona tell us if the McCains have endorsed this? I would imagine the gay business community in Arizona supports Cindy McCain’s Budweiser Distributorship to the tune of millions anually.

I have not been able to find any instance where McCain was asked about Prop 102. This proposition didn’t get approved for th ballot until the end of June, after the primary races were over. And McCain hasn’t been in the state to give interviews to local media since then, as far as I have been able to determine. And I haven’t seen any national media ask him about Arizona’s Prop 102. (In fact, I haven’t seen any national media even notice that we have a marriage battle here.)

So I don’t think he’s been asked specifically about Arizona’s Prop 102.

I do know that McCain has endorsed Califronia’s Prop 8. I find it hard to imagine that, if asked, his answer for Arizona’s Prop 102 would be any different. He did support the so-called “marriage amendment” in Arizona in 2006 that was defeated by the voters. This is, by the way, the same year in which McCain opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment. But his opposition to the FMA was based purely on federalist/states rights principles, not on any sense that the measure was discriminatory or divisive.
