1st Corinthians Against Prop 8

Jim Burroway

October 1st, 2008

Stage director Dave Barton was raised a fundamentalist Christian before coming out as gay. He’s well versed in Scripture, especially St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. Using Chapter 13 as the script of the video “Love Poem,” Barton has produced an incredible statement against California’s Prop 8:

It’s quite a wonderful video.

Except that it would require bible believers to actually read and think about what their bibles say, not just the parts that agree with their prejudices and fundraising.

This is beautiful. The No on 102 campaigns should look into getting permission to adopt it for ads here.

Outstanding!

I wonder if Dave Barton would issue versions for Prop 102 and Prop 2? He would just have to change one text panel.

Wonderful video…the greatest of these IS love, yes? Thank you, Dave Barton, and all your friends. We ARE one family.
One day, we’ll all know it. Those of us who love this video must always remember that it applies to us, too…we cannot hate the “bad” Christians (not really Christians at all) who preach separation and hate. It takes constant self-review, but we truly must love all, and…if you are a person who prays…pray for those who hate you…yes? I know….it’s hard. Or…not hard, really. We just have to let go of judgements like everyone else…then we ALL will be free.

God Bless Us….Every One.

This is sooo great. I can’t think of a better chapter than the love chapter of the bible to express how true love is. Thanks Dave! Your work is greatly appreciated.
