Peterson Toscano spills:
Jim, thanks for posting this and a Happy Belated Birthday!
Thirty years ago I wrote an expose of the then budding exgay movement called “Homosexuality and the Miracle Makers”. I also entered a contest for university students from the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS) which I think may be defunct now.
They held their annual conference in Minnesota and as a finalist I was asked to attend the conference and present my paper on whether or not Christians should try to “cure” homosexuals. I took the negative position. Much to my surprise my paper won the national conference and I presented it to the entire conference. i also was one of three speakers on a panel discussion about the exgay movement.
Another participant was a young man (well older than me at the time) who had gone through an exgay program. His part of the program was to describe his stay at an exgay ministry where the head of the ministry was regularly taking him to bed. (If you saw this man you would understand why believe me.)
