Latest Poll: 51.8% Against Maine’s Question 1

A new poll from Portland-based Pan Atlantic SMS Group shows that Mainers plan to vote “no” on Question 1 and preserve Marriage Equality in the state. According to a survey of 401 Mainers who identified themselves as “likely” voters in the Nov. 3 election, 51.8% say they will vote “no” on Question 1, and 42.9 plan to vote “yes.”

The margin of error is +/- 4.9%, which means that statistically it’s close to a tie. And given the fact that other polls often show more people saying they will vote for marriage equality than actually do at the polls, this is no time for complacency. Please donate today to preserve marriage equality in Maine.

It is disgusting that the GLBT has yet to have equal rights nationally. VOTE N0 ON 1 SO THAT ALL MAINERS ARE CREATED EQUAL!

Fortunately the young generation easily out weighs yes voters so a poll from a SMS group doesn’t surprise me, I just hope the older generation remember equal rights as in the constitution, and don’t let their upbringing against stereotypically gays sway the vote

It is unfortunate that the Question One folks have focused only on what will be taught to children in the public schools should Question One fail.

They should also discuss the violence that such relationships will cause on children. Because homosexuals are unable to procreate they will wish to have children in these artificial “marriages”. As such they will pursue Artificial Reproductive methods to have children.

Are these homosexual couples prepared to explain the genetic heredity of the children they bring into the world? I am curious as to what you tell a child or teenager who longs to know their biological parent, etc. Two mothers? Two fathers? Every child is entitled to a father and a mother. Homosexuals cannot provide this.

To me this is the real sin of this outrageous idea of homosexual marriage. This world has descended into such depravity. I grieve for these poor children. God help us.

Violence? Spare us the sanctimonious bullcrap!

Heterosexual parents cause more ACTUAL violence to their children en masse than homosexual parents do.

Do you grieve for the poor children who only have a mother and grandmother or aunt to take care of them? Or a father and uncle? Same-sex parenting has been happening for centuries with no sign of damage, violence or depravity.

Use your brain. Stop reacting viscerally.

WWII veteran said “Every child is entitled to a father and a mother. Homosexuals cannot provide this.”.

By the same token, every child is entitled to two mothers or two fathers if they so desire – heterosexuals cannot provide this. Who are you to decide who a child’s parents should be?

“Same-sex parenting has been happening for centuries with no sign of damage, violence or depravity.”

And same-sex parenting will continue whether or not same-sex marriage is legal. It amazes me that people like WWII Veteran consistently fail to understand this.

Marriage is solely between a man and a woman. For the simple reason that a man and a man cannot biologically produce children. Biologically homosexuality is incorrect, and is a perversion of the good, God-given design.

“marriage: the mutual relation of husband and wife. WEDLOCK : the institution whereby men and women are joined in a special … Read Morekind of social and legal dependence for the purpose of founding and maintaining a family” (Webster’s Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary)

It takes a man and woman to produce children.

Caleb,

If the purpose of marriage is to produce children, why are infertile men allowed to marry infertile women?

And if homosexuality is biologically incorrect and a perversion of God’s perfect design, then why does EVERY animal species on the face of the earth exhibit homosexual behavior?

(By the way, it would appear Mr. Webster disagrees with you: his definition says nothing of biological reproduction.)

Caleb,

Perhaps the sole purpose of your marriage was to produce children, but most folks marry for reasons that are deeper and richer than that.

Alex & Timothy,
As an advocate for NO on 1, I was very proud to read your points… well put! I have many many other things to add, but I’ve found out lately that some people just won’t “get it” no matter what you say. Sad, but true.

WWII Veteran claims that the real sin of same sex marriage is that a gay or lesbian couple can never explain to their child who there biological parents really are.

Is WWII Veteran also campaigning against the right of infertile heterosexual couples to adopt? Because adopted children in straight households are being sinned against in just the same way.

I urge WWII Veteran to start a campaign to ban heterosexualcouples from adopting.

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
