Barack Obama the First “Gay President”?

Jim Burroway

That’s what Tom McClusky, Vice President for Government Affairs for the Family “Research” Council, suggests. I know! You could have knocked me over with a feather too! Those FRC folks really do live in an alternate universe, don’t they?

That’s almost comic… *snorfle*

Won’t Michelle be surprised! Actually, I hope a camera’s on her when someone from the FRC makes this ridiculous comparison, so we can all enjoy her reaction.

The Cloakroom–isn’t that where nasty little schoolkids spread nasty little rumors and insults about others?

I thought that was George W. Bush. Admittedly, quite closeted. But there was all that talk about Tennessee, or something.

I can’t believe I’m saying this – but I can see where he’s coming from. He’s not saying Obama is gay – that Obama supports gays more than past presidents. He’s listening to the rhetoric but doesn’t notice that significant progress is taking WAY too long (ENDA, DOMA, etc).

Plus he’s ignoring Lincoln. The Log Cabin Republicans were named that because they enjoy hunting lodges.

According to a recent 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll, 50% of respondents said they would support an openly gay person to serve as president. 44% said they were opposed.

Wow, leave it to the FRC to use a positive poll against us.

1) pushing the homosexual agenda
2) strong advocate for the homosexual agenda
3) special protections for homosexuals
4) goal of the homosexual lobby
5) homosexual groups
6) households headed by homosexuals
7) homosexual lobby

One goal of the homosexual lobby was the passage of hate crimes legislation that would federalize crimes against homosexuals.

Yes, admittedly, that was part of our “agenda.” But now that our prisons overflowing with pastors, preachers, priests, imams, reverends and rabbis—for simply daring to speak God’s mind—I am shocked and apalled, and I believe an apology is in order.

I, militant homosexual activist, do hereby take responsibility for the countless lives that have been shattered by the passage of this senseless hate crimes legislation.

You were right McClusky, the sky fell.

Actually, the first president who was likely gay was James Buchanan. His long-term relationship with Senator King was cause of much speculation at the time, and Buchanan did little to counter it.

Oddly, he forgot to end with a plea for money.

Is this a first?

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

From the Inside: Focus on the Family’s “Love Won Out”

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Straight From The Source: What the “Dutch Study” Really Says About Gay Couples

The FRC’s Briefs Are Showing

Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.

Daniel Fetty Doesn’t Count

Daniel FettyThe FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.
