US Senate condemns Uganda’s Kill the Gays Bill

Timothy Kincaid

April 15th, 2010

From Keen

The U.S. Senate yesterday unanimously passed a resolution calling on the Ugandan Parliament to reject a proposed bill that would impose harsh penalties—including life imprisonment and the death penalty—against gay people.

The resolution, sponsored by Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.), “encourages” the U.S. Secretary of State to “closely monitor human rights abuses that occur because of sexual orientation and to encourage the repeal or reform of laws.”

And the THANKS for this act by the Senate is rightly given to Timothy and Jim who bulldogged this issue from the very beginning and were essential in bringing it to the attention of the nation.

My heartfelt thanks to both of you.

Ray, i couldnt agree with you more. thanks Jim! thanks Timothy! and thanks to the Senate too. these are good people making the world a better place:-)

after being roundly condemned by the whole world for so many months, i really wonder what kind of parliament would pass such a bill or even contemplate modifying it. i wish that the Ugandan parliament would hurry up and officially trash that bill… and decriminalize homosexuality… and make discrimination based on sexual orientation illegal. lol ok ok, i know… but, a guy’s allowed to wish sometimes:-)

A great ‘statement’ to make, yet the US has so many discriminatory ‘laws’ on their books….. DADT, NOMA… hmmm…
