Craig Ferguson on George Rekers

Jim Burroway

May 7th, 2010

Craig Ferguson is my favorite late night talk show host, and last night’s monologue was priceless. The George Rekers commentary starts at the 2:15 mark.

His advice to anti-gay activists: If you’re really really anti-gay, then just “knock it off and buy yourself something fabulous.”

I have always loved Craig Ferguson. Too bad he didn’t give the story some more treatment. But none the less, I loved the “fabulous” comment. I also liked Steven Colbert’s report

and today I saw John Stewart give a smug spin on it.

Anderson Cooper did a piece with Wayne Besen.

Good coverage to bring this guy Rekers down from his destructive post.

Priceless!

I’m all for exposing the hipocrites but ‘bringing them down’ isn’t what I’d call an appropriate response. There are many who are closeted and even anti-gay who, at some point, will honestly face their own sexuality and need to know that the LGBTQ community will not only accept them, but assist in their coming out, restoration and full integration as LGBTorQ individuals.

Paul,

Thanks for that very important insight. Shadenfreude is satisfying, but nothing would be better than having Rekers see the error of his ways and becoming a pro-LGBT advocate — without his repeated record of distorting science, of course. In that arena, what’s bad for the goose would also be bad for the gander.
