Of course this particular point about gays is moot. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad famously declared in 2007 that there are no beers in Iran.

Pointing out that the rights of women and gays are trampled in the context that it happens in a terrorist country, is hardly SUPPORT of the rights of gays.

He’s only stating the OBVIOUS. That’s not an endorsement of rights. He just wants to reiterate how bad a country Iran is, in comparison to how gays and women are treated here.

And isn’t that always another kind of bigoted statement?
That gay people shouldn’t complain because America isn’t as bad as Iran.

However, where gay rights ARE concerned, Santorum would LIKE it to be as bad here as it is for gays in Iran. In that there not be any gays at all.
See what I mean, Jim?
