That’s according to one Iowa voter who went to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s campaign stop at a coffee shop in Oskaloosa:
“I asked him if he’s elected, how does he plan to engage gay Americans. How are we to support him? And he told me to support Obama,” said Scott Arnold, an associate professor of writing at William Penn University.
…When you ask somebody a question and you expect them to support all Americans and have everyone’s general interest,” Arnold said. “It’s a little bit frustrating and disheartening when you’re told to support the other side. That he doesn’t’ need your support.”
Arnold is a registered Democrat who says he went to the campaign event with an open mind. Gingrich is on record as supporting a federal constitutional amendment banning marriage equality nationwide. He has appeared on Bryan Fischer’s radio program promising to “slow down” gay rights.
UPDATE: Did Gingrich really say that? Let’s go the the video…

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Using the same research methods employed by most anti-gay political pressure groups, we examine the statistics and the case studies that dispel many of the myths about heterosexuality. Download your copy today!

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.

Easy enough. Now let’s consider the votes of my family, friends, neighbors, co-workers. I’m guessing that he doesn’t want their votes either.

Amazing. There is something on which I agree with Newt. Never thought that would happen.

It would be useful for the Republican candidates to make a list of which groups of Americans they do not want to vote for them.

I clicked the first link above. Read about a half hour’s worth of the comments and I am amazed at the hate spewed there. But I shouldn’t be surprised really after the things I read on Right Wing Watch over the years.
While there are some comments in support of GLBT people, many are vile and hateful comments that support discrimination against the GLBT community based on the bible. Its odd that some would kneel before the serial adulterer Newt, but harshly rail against GLBT people as if they were nothing but pond scum. The “christian love” coming from these people is astounding. I cannot believe that its the bible that drives these people to hate the GLBT community but their own hate and use the bible as the excuse for it.
I cannot hate them myself. I pity them.

Watch out for people like this.
They get in and it’s 1933 again in Germany.
This time the scape goat is the homosexuals instead of the Jews.
Just – whatever you do – don’t go willingly into the showers.

I don’t believe it’s the Bible that drives these people to hate — I think it’s much more likely that they are small, frightened people and the Bible is their excuse for hating.
After all, you can find something in the Bible to support just about any position you want to take on anything.

I’ve thought that for a long time. I’ve often encounted anti-gay bigots who weren’t particularly religious bring up the bible as though that were a motivating factor for their hate when it clearly was just an excuse.

“I cannot hate them myself. I pity them.”
Dangerous to just pity them.
You better start to seriously hate them because they want you forever out of their sight.
To them pity = passive easy target.
Fight back any and all ways you can, be it physical and/or money donations to those who will fight for you.
This country WILL NOT protect you.
You are on your own – take appropriate measures.
Never give up, never stop fighting them, never surrender.
