Do You Have a Demon? Find Out for Just $9.95!!!

Rob Tisinai

December 29th, 2011

I'm butcher than a demon. And my cross is FABULOUSSS!

This is Reverend Bob Larson.  He makes (or has made) over $1.2 million a year. And for just $9.95 he will tell you if you have a demon:

Taking the Demon Test® may be the most important spiritual decision you make. This Test is the result of more than 30 years of research and thousands of hours in personal ministry with troubled souls. Through this vast experience we have been able to design this test so that we may quickly determine an individual’s spiritual condition.

Yes, the Demon Test® is a registered trademark. Or Bob simply thinks the ® looks cool.

The Demon Test® is just a first step, of course. What happens after you answer its 21 questions?

If you are concerned about your test score, we highly recommend that you schedule personal one-on-one time with Bob Larson. You may choose a one-hour Encounter Session or a full or half-day Intensive Session.

Encounter Session or Intensive Session — how to choose? It’s like picking between a happy ending and full release.

I have to admit, I’m fascinated. So here’s the deal: If I can get just one of you to sponsor me in the next AIDS/LifeCycle for $10 (or more), I will take the Demon Test® and report back on it, complete and replete with screen shots and frank analysis of my Demon Test® status (obviously, my strategy is to have LOTS of you donate $10, but don’t tell anyone I said that).

And then, along the way, perhaps we can answer the truly important question:

But is Rev. Bob Larson tougher than...BUFFY?

Is Rev. Bob Larson tougher than...BUFFY?

$10, folks. That’s all I ask.

H/T to slacktivist.

“Yes, the Demon Test® is a registered trademark. Or Bob simply thinks the ® looks cool.”

*If* it is a TM it would be interesting, where he has registered it. I didn’t find it in USPTO’s database and neither in the international TM database.
If you want to search:

and http://www.wipo.int/romarin

It’s against the law to use “(R)” (R in circle) or “TM” or similar designations if the trademark isn’t actually registered but I have no idea, how the legal procedure against illegal usage is in the United States.

Wouldn’t it be great if someone else registered the tradename, and then sued Rob Larson for trademark infringement?

Actually, Rev. Bob has his own personal squad of Buffys:

I really have little sympathy for people who are so gullible that they fall for these frauds. These can’t even be called a scam. Any idiot should be able to see through it

Buffy got into heaven. Rev. Larson won’t make it past the front gate.

Oh, gosh! I’d forgotten about this twerp. He was laugh-fodder about a decade ago, and I didn’t know he was still thriving.

I’m sorely tempted to cough up the $10, although AIDS LifeCycle (in California, at least) supports only one SF and one LA organization(s), which I find frustrating, as the money gets sucked from some fairly hard-hit non-urban areas and does not return in the form of any services.

However, the ten bucks might be worth it. Finding out if Rob Tisinai’s Demon Test® (or mine) reveals him (or me or anyone) to be the Devil Incarnate® (I love those ‘registered’ marks) . . . priceless.

Reed,
I also used to listen to Larson. He was prepetually in fundraising mode and he did on-air “exorcisms”. I also went one of his sessions when he was on the road. He was just as much a money grubbing carney show as he was on the air.

Ah the memories.

Funny, I was reading this thinking I should point it out to slactivist (though actually he does read this blog and has quoted it a few times, so perhaps I wouldn’t need to), and then you gave a hat tip to slactivist at the end.

I’ve not been keeping up with slactivist this past week or so.

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

From the Inside: Focus on the Family’s “Love Won Out”

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.

Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship.
