The most powerful testimony in favor of equality

Today, former GOP Representative Lynne Osterman testified in favor of marriage equality. Her testimony is, in my opinion, the most powerful argument that can be made for why you must do what is right.

She’s a former legislator (specifically state representative)–not an assemblywoman. Minnesota doesn’t have a general assembly, FYI.

This is a very moving and honest speech. The remorse she feels for her politically expedient freshman year vote is painfully obvious; so is her sincere attempt to be true to herself by working to make right the wrong she helped enact. I hope currently serving politicians take heed.

Ben – completely agree. I think the contrast is notable. Also, look to effort put in, to motivation, to venue, to evident sincerity, and to publicity factor. This is what turns my head. This woman is terrific. Thank you!

THIS was a moving speech. And being honest about the political expediency issue was an HONEST way to broach the issue. Acknowledge what you did that was hurtful and wrong, apologize and ask for change. Good on her. I welcome her support.
