Barilla apologizes. Again. Kinda.

Now Guido Barilla has released a video in which he non-apologizes for about the fourth time.

In case you need a transcript, it’s something like this:

Me. Me me me. Good guy, me. Me. Me. Always respectful me. Me. Me me me me me me. The reaction to me has made me unhappy me me. I’ll be listening to me me me and me and some good family groups. Oh, and also some of the people who are mad at me. Me.

Guido said, “Through my entire life I have always respected every person I’ve met, including gays and their families, without any distinction.”

A few days ago, Guido proved he is a bigot. Now he has proved he is a liar.

And he also proved he’s pretty dumb if he didn’t realize (before he originally opened his bigoted mouth) that there’s nothing so special about his pasta that people can’t easily find in other brands.

Next week I’m expecting the Christians That Are Like THAT to roll out their plans for Barilla Appreciation Day (BAD)

Now Barilla is just, outright, lying. There is no GLBT antidiscrimination policy for the company. Not even their huge plant in Ames, IA. Yet, they do protect all the groups that hate gays.

If you are gay and work for Barilla, you better be undetectable.

I agree. He’s plain lying about his “respect” in the past. I say that because actual respect, just by itself, would have blocked the words that got him into trouble. He would never have thought that way.

Further, this isn’t an apology, it is a business strategy.

What is that saying? If you screw with (the snake?) you get stung? You know the one I am thinking of but can’t remember completely.

This is no Chik-Fil-A, in that instance the owner stood by his remarks and the Christians poured out their dollars on him. Now what are the Christians going to do with Barilla? He’s walked back his comments. So he is sorta screwed, the gays won’t buy from him & the Christians are not gonna run to him now either. I would say he is royally screwed.

The only way he will get gay forgiveness is if he starts producing gay affirming advertising like Bertonelli (prolly spelled that wrong) is doing. Like actually ALL of his competition.
I think the BEST Twitter hashtag is not #BoycottBarilla but rather #PastaForAll

And, in this video “apology”, he states that he’s never discriminated against ANYONE. Has he already forgotten what started all of this kerfuffle? It was when he proudly stated that HE WOULD DISCRIMINATE AGAINST GAY FAMILIES in his company’s ads. He also went one step further and stated that he doesn’t support gay people adopting but then he claims he respects gay couples and their rights. Being a screaming anti-gay bigot just doesn’t pay the way it used to. You can’t even soft-sell it the way you used to. What is the world coming to?

SGM, I can’t say much about s rowing snakes, but there is always this…

Never mud wrestle with a pig. You only get dirty, and the pig loves it.

LOL, StraightGrandmother! #PastaForAll

Why doesn’t he make a couple of ads with gay families in them!

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.

From the Inside: Focus on the Family’s “Love Won Out”

On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.
