Best Wishes for StraightGrandmother!

Rob Tisinai

April 30th, 2014

As you may know, StraightGrandmother entered the hospital yesterday for a planned hip replacement today. The surgery is this afternoon, and I’m certain she’d love to come out of it to find a thread full of best wishes for a speedy recovery. Go to town!

StraightGrandmother,

Best wishes for a speedy, complete recovery.

Oh… and don’t eat the salted boiled water most hospitals call “chicken soup.” It’s nasty!

StraightGrandmother, I’m confident that you will have a complete and speedy recovery that leaves you pain-free ~ because you are much too delightfully feisty to allow hip replacement to keep you down for long.

Recover soon. Your avid and much-appreciated shooting from the hip has taken its toll, I see, and I’m glad you’ll have a brand new one soon so that you can get back into the game.

I’ve known several people who have had hip replacement surgery, and you’d be surprised at how quickly after surgery they’re up and about. Usually the immediate reduction in pain and increased mobility following surgery gets folks back up to speed (and feeling loads better than before surgery) really quickly. Take care, StraightGrandmother – and NO bungee jumping until your doc says it’s okay!

I can only guess you need a new hip STRAIGHT GRANDMOTHER, because a great soldier such as yourself, has stood up, marched and forged on a lot and where the faint of heart dare not go.
The new one is going to give you a lot more time to kick down those walls and take names.
Sister, I love you for the formidable woman you are.
We know this won’t keep you down for long.
We know you don’t want to miss any main events!
LOVE you always! xo

Jake,

I understand there’s a growing movement in the City to provide for gay elders. Did you witness any of those efforts? I’ve often wondered — if Bill and I hadn’t met 20 years ago… what would be happening to us, in a Bay Area culture obsessed with youth and gym-toned bodies? Where would we be in a community — of all orientations — that believes only wealthy elders, and their ability to fund the lives of the “younger set”, are the only elders that count?
