PFOX Reports Assault By ‘Angry Homosexual Activists’ At Arlington County Fair

Daniel Gonzales

August 29th, 2007

From PFOX’s press release:

As happens every year, gay activists disrupted our booth activities. They screamed obscenities, threw our materials from the exhibit table to the ground, insisted we recognize their same-sex “spouses,” demanded that PFOX leave, and hit a PFOX volunteer because he is ex-gay.

LifeSite.net has a shortened account but as of this blogging no reputable news sources have reported on the incident.

Update: Ex-Gay Watch did some investigating and found local authorties have no knowledge of such an event ever taking place.  See more recent post here.

Not that they don’t somewhat deserve that kind of treatment BUT most of these kinds of reports are hyperbole or outright lies. Reminds me of the supposed exposés of “homosexual sex” at Disneyland during Gay days. Never ever happened. But oh they have photographic proof! Oh wait didn’t they notice the watermarks embedded in the photos from gay porn sites? Guess its alright to break copyright law as well so long as its to attack Teh Gheys.

I saw the Lifesite article last night as I gleaned through the news. The way they described it, the altercation (if it happened) seemed minor. No doubt PFOX expanded the antics of one into all gay people. Just listen to this….

PFOX is the only organization distributing ex-gay educational literature to the public, including public schools. We are the only ex-gay organization almost everywhere we go. Almost every day we are on the front lines suffering harassment and injustices merely because we demand our equal rights.

Doesn’t that sound whiney to you? Especially, when PFOX isn’t necessarily made up of ex-gays, but parents and friends of ex-gays. Eh, they’re after all the money they can get too.

BTW…..
The 2007 Fair theme was “Arlington, A Family of Neighbors.”

I would like to be outraged and indignant that they were treated so poorly. I would like to decry the violence.

But PFOX has a history of dishonesty. So it makes it difficult to become upset. So I’m guess I’m stuck with: to the extent that PFOX was actually mistreated, I oppose such actions.

If violence occurred (which I sincerely doubt was as it was reported by them) then we oppose such violence.

Meanwhile, this language goes a very long way to making it perfectly clear that PFOX is not interested in reaching gay people but is only interested in casting aspersions on their gay neigbors:

Leaving homosexuality is like leaving a cult…
gay activists would take free will away from us…
Gay activists fear factual information…
Gay activists do not support hate crimes or sexual orientation anti-discrimination laws if those laws include ex-gays. “Hate crimes” is another word for hate against ex-gays while protecting gays.

It’s all just demonization and accusation and objectification. This is not the language of love, this is the language of contempt and “us v. them” politics.

PFOX: and hit a PFOX volunteer because he is ex-gay.

First of all, and sarcastically, shouldn’t they be complaining that the PFOX volunteer was hit for being “Christian?”

Secondly, why do they identify themselves as “Ex-gay,” as in “Ex-sinful?” Isn’t the opposite of homosexuality “holiness?” What kind of a “holy-identified” person goes around touting themselves as “ex-evil?”

Thirdly, if there is a gay man out there going around hitting ex-gays — for the mere sake of being ex-gay — WHY DID THEY NOT FILE A POLICE REPORT!? Especially to protect the rest of the ex-gays in the neighborhood – given that there are supposedly “hundreds of thousands of them” alive and walking around.

How irresponsible and unChristian can one be in the attempt to protect their own kind? That’s vomit worthy alone.

Where’s the police report? Where’s the proof? Isn’t bearing false witness a sin?

This is Regina Fox’s modus operandi for public relations. She always claim harassment and censorship to ensure some coverage. Several years ago when I was a congressional staffer, I agreed to meet members of PFOX. As typical for such meetings, you ask questions, play devil’s advocate, and extract as much info as possible. A week later, Fox complained to my boss that I harassed and shouted down her members and refuse to allow them to make their case. Of course, I had witnesses who proved that she was lying. She’s desparate and has to be challenged every time she makes such claims.

i was at the saint petersburg gay pride parade this june and the religious crazys did the same thing here ie following people telling them they are going to hell and burn in a lake of fire, making fools out of themselves and getting arrested[4] by the sp police. i am sorry my gblt brothers and sisters did this to you, you have the same rights as we do to state your position in a public place. acording to dewayne and timothy you make false claims re these events. if you or anyone doubts me just check the arrest records[ yes they are made public] for june 21st in st. petersburg fl. news flash adversion therapy or a religious cure for being gay has never worked i repeat never. i am a bisexual male and if you believe in your god [ i dont] he does not make mistakes, i am not a mistake. did you ever think gay people could be your gods way of birth control. it is getting a little crowded on this planet

I saw this had appeared on the LifeSite and wondered how accurate the report is. Who were the activists? How many? What group were they representing etc.

An Australian Christian activist group quoted from this site before only to find they had egg on their faces. I challenged the validity of quote from the site and the Aussie group had to issue an apology……..well of sorts. they didn’t have enough humility to admit they were wrong and had gone off half cocked without checking sources.

the news report said:
APA President Supports Therapy Treating Unwanted Homosexual Tendencies
By Gudrun Schultz

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana, August 29, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) –President of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Gerald P. Koocher, broke with the APA’s long-held stance against homosexual re-orientation therapy earlier this month, saying the organization would support psychological therapy for those experiencing unwanted homosexual attractions, the National Association for the Therapy and Treatment of Homosexuality (NARTH) reported.
