Do you recognize this?

“Padre abraza tu hijo ahora que puedes, porque si no mañana quizá lo abrazará otro hombre.”

A Protestant minister in Spain, Marcos Zapata, made that statement at at seminar “How to Raise Heterosexual Children.” In English, it’s “Father hug your son now while you can, because if not, tomorrow another man will.” — a paraphrase of Joseph Nicolosi’s standard stump speech. Not only is NARTH going international, but it looks like Exodus International is living up to its name as well. This article indicates that Zapata has been well inculcated in the language of Exodus. Spanish gay rights activists have asked the Galicia regional government to investigate.

At least he didn’t say to drop your kid on his head. Sigh.

I do, however, want to state that I am troubled by the efforts of some Spanish gay groups to silence the reorientation efforts. I recognize that other countries do not value freedoms of speech and religion in the same way that Americans do, but I do hope that this minister may continue to be allowed to preach his views, no matter how baseless they may be.

If I remember correctly, Love Won Out held a conference in Spain last year. These groups are definitely going international, but they will not meet with the “success” they have in the USA, in my opinion anyway. Europeans generally aren’t as ready to accept the unscientific statements of our religious right.
