Porno Pete Calls Focus On The Family A Bunch Of Sissies

Jim Burroway

Jim Daly, Focus On the Family’s new CEO who replaced James Dobson, has been trying to move the organization into a more kinder, gentler sort of an anti-gay organizations. Of course, none of their policies or tactics have actually changed and it would seem that the contributors to the Drive-By… err, Drive Thru blog don’t seem to have gotten the memo on the niceness thing. But there are reports that Daly wants to make Focus’s mean policies magically appear somehow, I dunno, softer in their meanness, all to attract more “millennials” who hold a distinctly dim view of Focus’ anti-gay politics.

The mere hint that Focus might put on a veneer of civility has Peter “Porno Pete” LaBarbera in a tizzy. His latest headline: Is Jim Daly Emasculating Focus on the Family?

Interesting use of the book of Daniel in this article. Works just as well if you think of the parties reversed too; if FOTF is Nebuchadnezzar.

Also, the bit about “Those who stand with God on homosexuality. . .” Do we really know who those people are? Can we actually pretend to know God’s mind on anything at all? The Bible is supposed to be His word, but it was written by fallible men. But, if we’re going to split philosophical hairs, Jesus said a few things too. Like “Inasmuch as you have done it for the least of My brothers, you have done it unto Me.”(Matthew 25:40) And “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35) Personally, I think these are more important than trying to do God’s job of judging other’s sin.

FOTF isn’t stupid– they know a sinking ship when they see one. Pretty soon laBarbera is going to have to get a real job.

Now he’s trying to out Elena Kagan or have her out herself. Did not Lieberman say that Kagan would actually make the Court more conservative? But LaBarbera claims that Kagan has a radical pro-homosexual record.

The gratifying thing about LaBarbera’s latest harangue is that it is another example of how he is being forced to devote an increasing percentage of his time to preventing other venomous anti-gay people from softening their positions.

And speaking of sissies: Aren’t people such as LaBarbera just big sissies? Why would a big studly macho guy who is secure in his heterosexuality be driven to devote his life to fighting against equality for homosexuals? Considering all the threats out there in the world, why does a macho warrior feel most threatened by the homos? Or just considering all the fascinating endeavors available to people, why did LaBarbera choose to go after the homos?

I nominate LaBarbera for the Big Sissy of the Year Award.

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
