The Log Cabin Republicans have plagarized Donald Trump’s tweets (that’s a joke, people!) for a full-page ad in the Cleveland edition of USA Today in response to yesterday’s adoption by the Republican National Convention of the most anti-LGBT platform in the party’s 162-year history. They explain in a press-release:
“Response from allies to our reaction in the wake of the drafting of this vitriolic anti-LGBT platform has been nothing short of staggering,” Log Cabin Republicans President Gregory T. Angelo stated. “The email sent to our members last week propelled Log Cabin Republicans to the top trend on Facebook for more than two days, and now holds the record as the highest-grossing single fundraising appeal this organization has ever sent. But this was fundraising with a purpose—I’m pleased to share that every last cent donated to Log Cabin Republicans via last week’s email has been spent on this project. This unprecedented support is representative of the GOP I know, and this is the GOP our members want to see.”
The provocative advertisement reads, “LOSERS! MORONS! SAD! No, these aren’t tweets from Donald Trump. This is what common-sense conservatives are saying about the most anti-LGBT platform the Republican Party has ever had. GOP Platform Committee: Out of touch, out of line, and out of step with 61% of young Republicans who favor same-sex marriage.”
“It’s my hope this advertisement will be a wake-up call to the intransigent and ancient voices on the GOP Platform Committee that marriage equality is the law of the land, gay families are a part of the fabric of America, and LGBT Republicans have an important role to play in growing the Party,” Angelo concluded.

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.

Dear Cute Boy Who Is Not Very Bright,
Some thousands of years ago, in a land now known as Greece, they told the story of another cute boy who was looking into a pool, admiring his own reflection, when he fell in and drowned because he wasn’t paying attention to anything else but himself.
Believe it or not, they still make mirrors. Please use one.
Sincerely yours,

The LCRs wasted their support, cash, and votes for 40 years in a row, and still have nothing to show for it.
Yes, society did progress, but that progress occurred overwhelmingly via the Democratic party, and despite lout opposition from the Republican Party.
Year after year, the LCRs claim “surprise” and “shock” when the party they feed betrays them again, turns traitor again, and eats them alive again.
Some day the mental health profession will study this phenomenon of people who adore, revere, and venerate those who not only oppress them today, but who vow to oppress them everywhere, forever.
Until then, the LCRs will continue publishing mild, meek advertisements in which they cluck and tsk-tsk that their oppressors appear “out of touch” with the victims.
In fact, the GOP is not at all out of touch with its victims. The GOP chooses them carefully, knows exactly who they are, knows how much support, cash, and votes they have to squander, and skillfully betrays them, year after year, never missing a beat.
It’s the LCRs who are out of touch with their oppression and their oppressors.

LCR has nothing to show for it?LOL. True, they are mostly self-defeating sell-outs. As many gay Democrats are when they put party before community.
But unlike HRC they have the demise of DADT under their belt for the lawsuit they successfully forced the end of DADT with.

I had to go check the chronology again after your comment, Lucrece, and you’re right, it was the LCR who prevailed in a federal court challenge to the constitutionality of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
But that’s not the complete story of the fall of DADT.
While the LCR prevailed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California in 2010, that decision was immediately stayed, pending appeal by affected government agencies.
So, the LCR had a “win,” but with nothing to show for it.
At the same time, though, a Democratic President, with the assistance of a Democratic Speaker of the House and a Democratic Senate Majority Leader enacted and signed into law legislation eliminating DADT, and allowing gay persons to serve.
When the 9th Circuit finally got around to the LCR’s case, it was dismissed as being “moot.”
So all the LCR got out of their suit was their legal fees (most of which they, themselves, had to pay) and the right to crow they had a “win” over their own party.
While the lifting of DADT by the Democratic controled House and Senate was used by the GOP to whip their base into a frenzy for the mid-term elections, ultimately leading to the loss of majority in both Houses at the midterms, and the quagmire the government has since become.
