It’s official. Maggie Gallagher had spent several years trying to cultivate an image of a well-informed and reasonable pundit with her Institute for Marriage and Public Policy. But founding the National Organization for Marriage, Gallagher has become among the more hysterical voices against LGBT people. And as we noted earlier today, she is now in full meltdown mode over the recent Federal Court decision declaring Prop 8 unconstitutional. More evidence of her unhingedness comes this op-ed in tomorrow’s San Francisco Chronicle:
If this ruling is upheld, millions of Americans will face for the first time a legal system that is committed to the view that our deeply held moral views on sex and marriage are unacceptable in the public square, the fruit of bigotry that should be discredited, stigmatized and repressed. Parents will find that, almost Soviet-style, their own children will be re-educated using their own tax dollars to disrespect their parents’ views and values.
That’s right: today marriage equality, tomorrow Soviet-style education camps.
Say, didn’t we just read something just yesterday about bogus threats to children?

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Using the same research methods employed by most anti-gay political pressure groups, we examine the statistics and the case studies that dispel many of the myths about heterosexuality. Download your copy today!

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.

Maggie is right! “Bigot” is a legal classification, doncha know?
It gets worse: if a court of law finds you to be a bigot, you will be sent to an Alaskan prison camp where you will work naked in the snow until you die.
The prison guards will then throw your corpse to the guard dogs.
(Hey why should she get to hog all the hysterical hyperbole, right?)

*Yawn* More ridiculous drama from Maggie Gallagher. You’d think she’d realize it’s getting old.

So Maggie thinks Walker pulled the 130+ page decision out of his
assimagination, the attorneys were just ego-driven media whores, and the next step is Soviet-style takeover of schools by gays and lesbians.Fine. No real surprises there.
The thing I’m not seeing in any of the conservative comments, especially Maggie’s, is acknowledgment of how spectacularly their attorneys failed. No credible witnesses. No factual record established. Incomplete, irrational, contradictory logic. Failure to follow through on promised approaches.
Somehow, after pulling together millions of dollars, thousands of volunteers, all at the direction of the best and brightest that the PR world and the hierarchies of the Catholic and Mormon had to offer, they ended up mounting a Laurel & Hardy legal defense.
I’ll give them a couple days to figure out how blame Walker for that, too.

YES YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE TAUGHT THEIR PARENTS ARE BIGOTED MORONS.
And I’m glad it’s finally starting to happen. When I was in school if a kid said something racist, sexist or otherwise bigoted he got in trouble, a ****ing lot of trouble. Didn’t matter if it was ‘their parents views and values’ it was still bigoted, idiotic BS and the school wouldn’t put up with it.

Did anybody else notice that the bio at the bottom of Maggie’s op-ed refers to her as the “chairman” of NOM?

When will Mrs. Raman Srivastav finally get a grip on reality and determine means to salvage the nation from a 50% divorce rate rather than barring committed, loving couple(who happen to be the same gender)from establishing legally secure family environments?

Not long ago, one of you guys used a beautiful phrase to describe Maggie’s sense of entitlement and i forgot how it goes. Who was it? Let’s use it again

These types of comments just go to show what type of people we are dealing with. Granted Maggie is a mother. But I wonder what her own children must think of her. The ability of the right to pander to the most base fears of a parent are legendary. If you go back and look at every argument that they have ever made about “us” it has to do with how are eventually going to destroy your kids. WE on the other hand, KNOW for a fact, that how we are raised has NOTHING to do with how we turn out. Especially when you look at all the gay kids from Fundy homes. We do not go out and seek your children, your child come to us because they are desperate to have someone understand them, someone to mentor them, and someone to love them in the only way they truly understand. We don’t make their kids gay, but we teach them how to stand up for themselves.
