A Letter to Sally Kern

Timothy Kincaid

March 12th, 2008

Oklahoma State Sen. Sally KernPam Spaulding has posted at her site a letter from a young Oklahoman* to Rep. Kern. In his letter, Tucker informs Mrs. Kern that Oklahoma City Residents have experienced both terrorism and homosexuality and do not agree with her on which is worse.

On April 19, 1995, in Oklahoma City a terrorist detonated a bomb that killed my mother and 167 others. 19 children died that day. Had I not had the chicken pox that day, the body count would’ve likely have included one more. Over 800 other Oklahomans were injured that day and many of those still suffer through their permanent wounds.

That terrorist was neither a homosexual or was he involved in Islam. He was an extremist Christian forcing his views through a body count. He held his beliefs and made those who didn’t live up to them pay with their lives.

As you were not a resident of Oklahoma on that day, it could be explained why you so carelessly chose words saying that the homosexual agenda is worst than terrorism…

To read the rest, and I recommend that you do, hop over to Pam’s House Blend

* We have no insight as to whether this letter reflects the experiences of a real teenager named Tucker. Nonetheless, the points made are worth considering.

WOW. Go Tucker. I hope that he does get on Ellen, as the commenters are suggesting.

I think this young man really captures the offense Rep. Kern committed with her recent anti-gay speech. It’s really a hate speech, not just anti-gay, full of fear and lies.

Unfortunately, this letter is not real. I did extensive research and have no evidence that it is anything but a fraud.

Todd, I have been too, and it would be more accurate of you to say the source hasn’t been verified. Fraud is a rather large claim.

Slouching Towards Kampala: Uganda’s Deadly Embrace of Hate

When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.

Paul Cameron’s World

In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
