Gay Marriage Killed The Penguins

Jim Burroway

July 23rd, 2010

The ex-gay nutcake of San Diego strikes again:

Penguins Boycott Argentina’s Forced Same-Sex Marriage Law! Homosexual Activists Claim Penguins Are Gay: Shocked Penguins Drop Dead in Response!

Hundreds of dead Magellanic penguins have washed ashore on beaches in Brazil this month, animal experts say.

At least 500 have been reported in the Peruibe area, The Christian Science Monitor reported. The city is south of Sao Paulo.

Brazil, Argentina, Antarctica… it’s all the same, isn’t it? Here’s the Christian Science Monitor report. Scientists say normal migrations are normal, but the currents have shifted due to local weather patterns. But ex-gay gadfly James Hartline, who is off his meds again, says it’s punishment for same-sex marriage in Argentina:

This is the latest in a series of global strikes by nature against areas of the world where homosexual activists are being empowered to spread homosexuality and paganism via their partners in activist governmental bodies and liberalized emergent church organizations.

Birds of a feather ain’t flocking

Timothy Kincaid

June 22nd, 2010

Adam Hood, the ex-gay scarfboi whose “prophetic utterances” and history with both extensive drug abuse and mental illness have left me convinced that he had precarious mental health, has made quite a splash on the blogosphere lately. In fact, he’s even caught the attention of anti-gay activist James Hartline, another ex-gay whose “prophetic utterances” and history with both extensive drug abuse and mental illness have led me to the same conclusion.

You’d think they’d find common ground in, if nothing else, their shared hostility towards the gay community that took them in and sheltered them when no one else would.

You’d be wrong.

Within the past few minutes, Hartline has tweeted his opinions about Hood:

# I was informed a year ago by ministries in San Francisco regarding a man named Adam Hood who put curses on Christians he couldn’t control. 6 minutes ago

# Incompetent homosexual activists are being “hood” winked by emergent church media behind Adam Hood to help promote Hood’s hidden agenda. 11 minutes ago

What Hartline means by all this is beyond me.

San Diego candidate learns not to buddy up to ex-gay gadfly James Hartline

Timothy Kincaid

March 17th, 2010

hartline2It never pays to buddy up to ex-gay activist James Hartline. You’re going to get burned. Even if you agree with everything that Hartline supports, you have to be as extreme and wacky as he is or he’ll turn on you.

And San Diego City Council candidate Lorie Zapf has just found that out. Hartline is sharing some of their communications with the press. (Union-Tribune)

Hartline said he distributed the e-mail to media outlets this week because Zapf was not living up to his anti-gay standards.

zapfIt all started in 2006 when Zapf supported a candidate for City Council who endorsed the mayor who was known to be tolerant of gay people. Although she had attended church with him at Mission Valley, this was enough to lead Hartline to suspect Zapf’s anti-gay credentials. Or as Hartline tells it (in the third person):

It was because Hartline and Zapf knew each other at MVCF that Hartline began to email Zapf regarding her obviously hypocritical involvement with the campaigns of Judy Riddle, a member of the cult Mormon Church, and pro-homosexual San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders. Hartline could not understand at the time how Zapf could be involved in promoting Mormon candidates when MVCF had taught her that Mormonism is a cult. Equally perplexing for Hartline was the idea that Zapf was so involved with Jerry Sanders after the years Sanders had marched in San Diego’s pornographic gay pride parades.

Initially, Zapf attempted to manipulate Hartline in emails, telling Hartline that she was firmly in his camp on the homosexual issue. As Hartline responded with emails showing Zapf was compromising, she began to take a sinister turn, emailing Hartline’s pastors in an attempt to shut Hartline down. It appears by her responses in the recent Union Tribune article, that the sinister Zapf is once again replacing the “Aunt Bee” Lorie Zapf.

Hartline’s view of “compromising” is probably a bit different than yours. Zapf was pretty clear where she stood: (City Beat)

“I absolutely want to keep homosexuals out of public office and not be allowed to influence our schools, textbooks, altering marriage, children, and on and on”

“I like that you are trying to keep homosexuals and homosexual activists out of public office because we both know what the long term agenda is.”

“I do believe homosexuality is a sin. I have three homosexual first cousins. I love them all and would ‘be seen’ in a photo with them. I believe they all live in sin and frankly all are very unhappy people and had horrible childhoods as well.”

But hating the gay isn’t enough for Hartline. You have to be fire-breathing, take no prisoners, crazy-ass in your hating of the gay. But crazy-ass homophobia doesn’t sell with in San Diego. Yes, this is a Republican city, but it likes its Republicans to be either gay supportive or gay themselves.

So Zapf is now clarifying. She says that she didn’t mean gay people, per se, just gay activists (ya know, the gay folk who aren’t closeted, delusional, ex-gay, or like Roy Ashburn).

And she’s a victim. It was just taken out of context.

“This is what keeps good people from running for office,” she said. “Everyone’s got something. It’s going to be a little sentence plucked out, taken out of context … and then used against me to try to destroy me and my family.”

Zapf said voters should note that Hartline’s anger stems from her support of gays.

“The irony is that James Hartline, of all people, who is so rabidly anti-gay, is trying to hurt me because I’m not,” she said. “He doesn’t think I’m anti-gay enough. I’m not at all.”

Oh, I dunno, Lorie. I think you’re plenty anti-gay.

Even if you would ‘be seen’ in a photo with me.

James Hartline Is Seeing Visions Again

Jim Burroway

October 15th, 2009

James HartlineAnd he’s writing them down:

The wicked rulers of the satanic realm have searched the earth for generations seeking out the hidden locations of the 144,000 bondservants of the Lord. Twelve tribes of Israel. 12,000 members of each tribe. Prophetically predetermined by God, 144,000 bondservants who will give rise to an eternal promise made by The Father to His eternal Son. Satan knows that the fulfillment of God’s catastrophic judgment upon this temporal earthly existence is held back until the 144,000 bondservants are sealed. The Wicked One, once known as Lucifer, now known as the Devil, rampages upon the earth seeking out the location of the 144,000 that he and his minions might exterminate them before they arise.

The satanic plan has unfolded. The Devil has poured out a spirit of perversion, of homosexuality and of death upon humanity that he might corrupt and decimate the potential human pool from which the 144,000 will arise. For the Book of Revelation reveals the characteristics of these unique bondservants. They are spiritual eunuchs, virgin males, free of relationships with women, devoted in complete obedience to the solitary life of God Almighty. Satan knows NOT where these 144,000 bondservants are hidden. He simply hunts for them with the blind and unholy ambition of exterminating them before they can awaken to their holy destinies.

James Hartline Knows The REAL REASON Chicago Lost The Olympics

Jim Burroway

October 5th, 2009

James HartlineYou won’t read this in the mainstream media because its being held captive by the homosexual agenda. But the real reason Chicago lost the 2016 Summer Olympics — and James Hartline is the only one who knows this — is because he and others prayed away the games:

Because former homosexual James Hartline and the other Christians were willing to risk their lives for the Gospel while the world was glorifying homosexuality in Chicago, the Spirit of the Lord was released upon Chicago’s demonic gay agenda in 2006.

The Spirit of the Lord began contending with the anti-christ spirit inside the City of Chicago from that day forward. Thus, when President Barack Obama, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and their armies of gay activist supporters in Boys Town attempt to square the reasons for their failure to garner an Olympic Bid for the Windy City, they had better recount the day that the Wind of the Holy Spirit was emparted into Chicago in 2006.

Rio!There he goes again, writing about himself in the third person. But given the choice between Rio de Janeiro and Chicago, I think Rio’s way gayer.

Determining God’s Wrath

Timothy Kincaid

November 18th, 2008

There is a long tradition amongst religious zealots to read disaster as an evidence of God’s wrath. So it is not too surprising that ex-gay gadfly James Hartline had declared that the fires burning across Southern California are caused by God’s vengeance against evil homosexuals.

I tend to take James with a combination of amusement and annoyance, but mostly with pity. Though intelligent, Hartline’s mental state tends to result in hallucinations, bouts of paranoia, and wild eyed pronouncements all underlined by delusions about his role in the universe. Sadly, too many anti-gays or the more extreme variety encourage James and his wactivist efforts. It really isn’t kind of them.

But supposing that we could determine something from the fires raging, what could we determine that God was saying?

The areas hardest hit are in Santa Barbara County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County.

Orange County voted 57.8% in favor of Proposition 8. Those cities most effected voted even more in opposition to equality: Yorba Linda 65.9%, Anaheim 62.5%, Brea 62.6%. In contrast, the city of Irvine which voted 50.8% against the proposition seems to have been spared.

As for Riverside County and San Bernardino county, they voted for Prop 8 by 64.3% and 66.9%, respectively. I don’t have the city breakdown, but those areas threatened are among the more conservative.

On the other hand, Santa Barbara County is the only Southern California county to reject the amendment. And if their voting patterns matched other counties, Montecito, a wealthy enclave, is likely to have been strongly in opposition.

So it’s really hard to tell if God is punishing those who voted for Prop 8 or those who voted against it. And if these fires are to warn the gay community against protesting, none of the areas affected are much more or much less involved in protest than those not hit by fire.

Which tells me that those who look for God’s hand in natural disasters can read just about anything they like into such events. I prefer not to see such things as a revelation of God’s will or to call my neighbors into judgment over a fire, earthquake or flood. Perhaps I take more seriously the commandment not to take God’s name in vain.

Hartline: God Rains Down Fire Against Gays

Jim Burroway

November 17th, 2008

hartline2.bmpUh-oh. San Diego’s Christianist gadfly James Hartline is hearing God’s voice again:

Each time homosexual activists attempt to force their agenda on California, there have been raging, massive, incinerating fires sweeping across the California landscape.

Today, people are running for their lives as 800 California homes have burned down and the firestorm is spreading like a nuclear holocaust. Yet, the radical homosexual anarchists rampage upon the streets of this state demanding the destruction of marriage and family, and the establishment of their socialistic dark vision for society.

Wildfires, tsunamis, economic collapse, disease — yeah, they’re impressive, but where’s the pestilence, rivers turned to blood or death of the firstborn? If you ask me, we’re settling for second best. I guess it’s true; maybe we’re too apathetic. I personally blame the HRC.

Anti-Gay School Board Endorses Proposition 8

Timothy Kincaid

August 1st, 2008

hartline2.bmpJames Hartline, an anti-gay activist in San Diego, is a peculiar individual. He is an ex-gay who is convinced that God spoke to him out of a television set and that he will be divinely healed of HIV which will result in a world wide spiritual revival based on Hartline’s prophesies.

He also believes that God instructed him to run for city counsel. Hartline came in last on the ballot (behind a man arrested for masturbating in public while campaigning) which he believes indicates that the Christians of San Diego have failed the test God set before them.

James has become increasingly bitter over the response of San Diegans to him. He now regularly denounces the Mayor and City Counsel members, the local Republican party, and other elected officials whom he believes have betrayed him and his exacting homophobic dogma. There are very few people who live up to James’ anti-gay expectations.

schreiber.jpg
But one elected official has escaped Hartline’s wrath, Grossmont Union High School District boardmember Priscilla Schreiber. In fact, Hartline and Schreiber are such allies that Schreiber blogged as a representative for Hartline during his election.

Schreiber was elected to the board in a battle over whether the district would have a non-discrimination policy that included sexual orientation. Schreiber opposed any programs that discouraged anti-gay bigotry, a position that sat well with the local constituency.

Schreiber has since used her position as a cudgel against any safe space or sense of worth for gay students and other gay persons. She has described GLSEN as “a radical homosexual advocacy group that seeks to promote homosexual acceptance to young students in public schools” and declared, “Parents send their students to school to receive the best education from the best teachers, not so they can be indoctrinated into homosexuality, lesbianism or transsexualism.”

In 2002, the school board edited a film on tolerance to exclude a message of inclusion. The mother of a boy assualted for his orientation objected.

School trustee Priscilla Schreiber “said the portrayal of a gay authority figure,” (a police officer Chuck Limbert of the San Francisco Police Department, whom I have met) “sends a message that homosexuality is normal and acceptable, which she said does not belong in the classroom.”

In fact, Schreiber and her co-boardmembers so favor anti-gay activism that they sued to overturn state law prohibiting public schools from discriminating because of sexual orientation or identity. And last year she attacked the San Diego City Counsel for their declaration of support for Gay Pride Month.

Priscilla Schreiber, President of Grossmont Unified High School District, told the council, “How can you betray this city’s Christian heritage by voting every year for an event that destroys our youth?”

So it should be no surprise that the San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting the following:

The Grossmont Union High School District went on record yesterday supporting a November initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in California.

AdvertisementThe board voted 4-0 to pass a resolution endorsing Proposition 8, which would amend the state Constitution to recognize marriage only between a man and a woman.

Schreiber and her fellow anti-gay activists are living up to their expectations. I’m sure Hartline approves.

Carl DeMaio Wins City Council Seat

Timothy Kincaid

June 4th, 2008

demail.jpg Gay Republican Carl DeMaio won his election for San Diego District 5 outright and will not need to participate in a run-off election in November.

Ex-gay gadfly James Hartline did not place in the top three contenders for District 3. It seems that the good Christians of San Diego must have failed the test that Hartline thinks God set out for them.

Hartline’s Sad Revelation

Timothy Kincaid

April 11th, 2008

hartline2.bmpEx-gay James Hartline is a favorite of Christian media when they are looking for an extremist to quote. Hartline lives his life as an anti-gay activist, pestering the San Diego City Council, protesting the ballpark, and writing fiery denunciations of anyone anywhere who isn’t as completely and unrelentingly hostile to gay people as he is (and few are).

Hartline is also running for a City Council seat in an effort to defeat what he views as ungodliness.

And it has become painfully obvious that those who trot Hartline out to put an ex-gay on display and those who happily print his thoughts on the evils of homosexuality are only using him and do not respect him.

From Hartline’s blog dated February 18, 2007

I recently asked God about the role of my particular city council campaign in our city. The Lord responded by letting me know that my campaign is a test for the Christians of San Diego. You see, pastor after pastor preaches in the pulpit about the corruption and immorality in our culture. These same pastors now have a chance to do something about the things they have been preaching about. If they do not support my campaign for the city council, than all of their complaining is just empty rhetoric.

My campaign is a test for me and it is a test for the Christian Community of San Diego. For me, it comes down to my obedience to God. God instructed me to run this race.

The candidate complains that as of that date “only 7 of the 2,000+ pastors in San Diego have endorsed my campaign” and “only 34 Christian voters have contributed”.

It is no surprise that few are willing to sign on to Hartline’s campaign. James is a rather tragic example of the consequence of excessive drug use combined with mental illness.

Although quite intelligent, Hartline’s rants display a universe of allegances and associations conspiring with Satan against him and his goals. But in the end he will emerge victorious when God heals him of HIV thus illustrating to all that James Hartline is God’s chosen prophet to lead the world in a marvelous new revival.

God speaks regularly to his prophet and reveals all sorts of amazing things such as the reason for wildfires, the pro-abortion goals of Horton Hears a Who, and how those who oppose Hartlines political extremism are “virulently anti-Christian”. It doesn’t take long for a picture of James’ mental condition to appear.

I cannot fault the conservative community for not wanting to advance his political efforts. Few, even among the most conservative, would want to allow James any influence in public policy decisions.

But I do fault and condemn those who – knowing Hartline to be as he is – are still willing to present him to the public as though he is credible. I fault WorldNetDaily for continuing to rely on him for their source as a “San Diego pro-Christian activist”. I fault Peter LaBarbera for dragging him to Chicago and for encouraging his efforts. I fault those local churches and other anti-gay activists who tell him he’s doing God’s work.

To both champion him publically and shun him privately is self-serving and heartless. What these and other “Christian” voices have done to James Hartline is both sad and cruel.

Hartline’s Revelations About a Cure

Timothy Kincaid

October 31st, 2007

hartline2.bmp
I don’t often discuss anti/ex-gay activist James Hartline. I personally believe him to deeply emotionally and mentally disturbed and for that reason am more tolerant of his irrational rants. I do, however, find those like Peter LaBarbera who take advantage of this poor man’s condition to be beneath contempt.

Yet some conservative media will trot Hartline out when they want extremist anti-gay quotes. And they conveniently avoid quoting his less conventional opinions. For example, no conservative evangelical Christian media will be quoting this rather bizarre statement:

To those involved in gay activism who persecute my ministry: Are you really as truthful as you claim with regards to wanting an end to the AIDS epidemic? Think about this:

Do you really want a cure? What if God wants to reveal the cure to one of His Christian servants? Perhaps He is going to reveal to me or one of the members of my prayer team a cure for AIDS. We pray for a cure all of the time. In fact, He may have already revealed the cure. We have just not analyzed all of the revelations that God has shown us through our prayer times.

So, the next time you think about attacking our ministry because we stand up for the Bible, you may be attacking the one that God is showing the miracle of a cure for AIDS.
We do pray for a cure and we believe that God is bringing a cure soon.

Sadly, Hartline does not see a cure for AIDS as a demonstration of God’s compassion, but solely as a reward for Hartline’s prayers. And he further believes that God is showing him great revelations that may already include such a cure. James is the central character in his universe and his god plays a secondary role.

I wish James health and happiness. I wish him peace and mental comfort. And I wish that those who irresponsibly showcase him in their anti-gay activism would repent from their exploitation.

California Wildfires Bring Out The Crazies

Jim Burroway

October 23rd, 2007

James HartlineSan Diego ex-gay “Christian” activist and gadfly James Hartline knows why California’s burning:

They shook their fists at God and said, “We don’t care what God says, we will issue our legal brief to support gay marriage in San Diego!” Then Mayor Jerry Sanders mocked the Christian vote and signed off on this rebellious legal document to support same-sex marriage. And then the streets of La Jolla under the Mt. Soledad Cross began to cave in.

They shook their fists at God and said, “We don’t care what the Bible says, We want the California school children indoctrinated into homosexuality!” And then Governor Schwarzenegger signed into law the heinous SB777 which bans the use of “mom” and “dad” in the text books and promotes homosexuality to all school children in California.

And then the wildfires of Southern California engulfed the land like a raging judgment against the radicalized anti-christian California rebels.

Glenn BeckYes, Harline’s a crazy old coot. That why the only attention he gets is accompanied with laughter. Unlike CNN’s Glenn Beck:

I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today.
