Two anti-gay activists closely associated with Paul Cameron have inserted themselves into the center of Florida’s gay adoption controversy. Florida is the only state in the nation which explicitly bans adoption by gay parents. That law is now being challenged. The Miami Herald has obtained a transcript from an adoption trial which was closed the […]

Absolutely shocking!: On Friday, members of the Murray State Alliance performed live homosexual acts on campus in the Free Speech Zone. Many students were shocked, but not necessarily as the name the event implies. Students performed acts such as reading, studying and hanging out to raise awareness about the lifestyle of gay members of the […]

When accepting the challenge to Proposition 8, the California Supreme Court identified three questions that the process will answer: 1. Is Proposition 8 invalid because it constitutes a revision of, rather than an amendment to, the California Constitution? This is the question that I believe will drive most of the conversation, speculation, and argument for […]

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day set aside to remember those who were killed due to anti-transgender or anti-gender-variant prejudice. Transgender Day of Remembrance began in 1999 to honor Rita Hester, who was stabbed to death on November 28th 1998. This year will mark the tenth anniversary of her death. The event has grown over […]

Well now, Here’s some entertaining reading. It’s a 40-page brief to the California Supreme Court (PDF: 2,471KB/40 pages) arguing that the court should uphold Proposition 8. The brief, submitted by the Divine Queen Mariette Do-Nguyen of the Almighty Eternal Creator, is titled “Letter Brief of Amicus Curiae Demanding the Almighty Eternal Creator’s Law and the State […]

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is our latest LaBarbera Award winner for suggesting that gays haven’t been beaten enough to earn the right to marry. Huckabee appeared on ABC’s “The View,” where he had this exchange with host Joy Behar about same-sex marriage: HUCKABEE: It’s a different set of rights. People who are homosexuals should […]

Sometimes you never know what someone believes about you until you hear it from someone else. Margie Christoffersen, the grande dame of El Coyote was always there with a smile for gay folk, but that isn’t how her Mormon friends saw it. A fellow ward member has posted her views about Margie and El Coyote. […]

One of the notable attributes of the protests in response to Proposition 8 is that they have for the most part been peaceful. In all reports I have seen, the police worked with the community to minimize conflict and keep peace and the gay and gay-friendly protesters have not rioted or destroyed property. There have […]

More than three hundred cities were host to remarkably peaceful protests Saturday as people demonstrated against the passage of California’s Prop 8. Protesters were polite, calm, law-abiding. That’s quite an accomplishment. Not one that Newt Gingrich is willing to acknowledge. He seems to think that ambling down the boulevard, holding signs in front of a […]

Prince used to be the Prince of hedonism. In fact, it was his song “Darling Nikki” which led to CD’s bearing the warning label “Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics”. But all that changed when he became a Jehovah’s Witness. And that’s not all. The man who used to perform in bikini underwear and high heals ain’t […]

Uh-oh. San Diego’s Christianist gadfly James Hartline is hearing God’s voice again: Each time homosexual activists attempt to force their agenda on California, there have been raging, massive, incinerating fires sweeping across the California landscape. Today, people are running for their lives as 800 California homes have burned down and the firestorm is spreading like a […]

Police estimate that about 300 demonstrators gathered in front of the Newport Beach, CA Temple of the LDS church this morning to protest the church’s dominant role in passing California’s Proposition 8, stripping gays and lesbians of their rights. The protest began at about 10:00 a.m. an lasted until about 1:00 p.m. The OC Register’s […]

During the Yes on 8 and Yes on 102 Campaigns we learned that the leadership of the Mormon Church has little respect for honesty in campaigning. Although they were planned, funded, and implemented by religious groups, mainly Mormons, these campaigns were astonishingly dishonest. Now the willingness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day […]

Saturday was both exhilarating and annoying, encouraging and exhausting. What follows are some of my personal observations. According to the Los Angeles Times, the police reported that between 10,000 to 12,000 of the 40,000 anticipated people attended the rally and march at City Hall. (Personally, I find the LA Times story disconcerting. You don’t have […]

In this original BTB Investigation, we unveil the tragic story of Kirk Murphy, a four-year-old boy who was treated for “cross-gender disturbance” in 1970 by a young grad student by the name of George Rekers. This story is a stark reminder that there are severe and damaging consequences when therapists try to ensure that boys will be boys.
When we first reported on three American anti-gay activists traveling to Kampala for a three-day conference, we had no idea that it would be the first report of a long string of events leading to a proposal to institute the death penalty for LGBT people. But that is exactly what happened. In this report, we review our collection of more than 500 posts to tell the story of one nation’s embrace of hatred toward gay people. This report will be updated continuously as events continue to unfold. Check here for the latest updates.
In 2005, the Southern Poverty Law Center wrote that “[Paul] Cameron’s ‘science’ echoes Nazi Germany.” What the SPLC didn”t know was Cameron doesn’t just “echo” Nazi Germany. He quoted extensively from one of the Final Solution’s architects. This puts his fascination with quarantines, mandatory tattoos, and extermination being a “plausible idea” in a whole new and deeply disturbing light.
On February 10, I attended an all-day “Love Won Out” ex-gay conference in Phoenix, put on by Focus on the Family and Exodus International. In this series of reports, I talk about what I learned there: the people who go to these conferences, the things that they hear, and what this all means for them, their families and for the rest of us.

Anti-gay activists often charge that gay men and women pose a threat to children. In this report, we explore the supposed connection between homosexuality and child sexual abuse, the conclusions reached by the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, and how anti-gay activists continue to ignore their findings. This has tremendous consequences, not just for gay men and women, but more importantly for the safety of all our children.
Anti-gay activists often cite the “Dutch Study” to claim that gay unions last only about 1½ years and that the these men have an average of eight additional partners per year outside of their steady relationship. In this report, we will take you step by step into the study to see whether the claims are true.
Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council submitted an Amicus Brief to the Maryland Court of Appeals as that court prepared to consider the issue of gay marriage. We examine just one small section of that brief to reveal the junk science and fraudulent claims of the Family “Research” Council.
The FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics aren’t as complete as they ought to be, and their report for 2004 was no exception. In fact, their most recent report has quite a few glaring holes. Holes big enough for Daniel Fetty to fall through.
